If Mancs is the biggest spring marathon to go ahead it may be unusually stacked/busy, which would be fun. A good chance of a fast time.

SPR, the garmin is usually fine and gives you a 5 second countdown, but mine isnt very loud. Also for the 100m it doesnt always give you 5 beeps.

Essentially it was my fault, my mind was on other things rather then being ready for the beeps.

For any sub 2:40 potentials, there's an "elite" race being organised for 4th October - men sub 2:40 potential, women sub 3:00. Would be a fast flat course too, the same one used for parts of the Wrexham Village Bakery.

Yeah I use workouts so know about the beeps and having tried distance on road once before, also the issue with inconsistent beeps when using distance. I'm also not sure I trust a Garmin to measure short reps hence I do most (probably all actually) of my road sessions as time based.

NB. I'm talking about setting up a time based workout that will beep at the right time, not looking at your watch while you run.

Baz / BR - my lack of training would be one issue, my complete CnBA another!!

I have a GMM place for Spring, something is going to have to change for me to train for it. It's quite revealing from a motivation perspective, I wonder whether I'm motivated by the achievements of others and so need to see some of you lot run fast times to give me a kick?

i.e. 6 x 20 seconds with 30 seconds recovery which would be around about 100m for each.

Baz - for guys like us surely there's no need to sweat over the accuracy of your 100m reps is there? Whether we do 80 or 120m I would have thought that it's the process of pumping the arms and lifting the knees that's important?

Maybe I'm just saying that as I tend to run my strides between trees, lamposts, puddles or some other random marker that looks about right!

Baz - Yeah something like that. If you want to control the recovery (which would work well for this session as if you run faster you might want a little more), you can set it to lap press and you can also have a 5 sec lead into the next rep.

That's how I set up my hill sprints, 10 x (10 sec run, lap press recovery, 5 sec other).

It's not sweating the accuracy of the 100m reps. It's making sure you get a specific amount of effort. 20 secs could be more or less like the lamp post, but they're both a defined marker.

Also Baz isn't doing normal strides or sprints, this is supposed to be a continuous session.
