Agree WW, I dont get too hung up. I used to just count to 20 and not record the speed. Suspect I was doing closer to 200m !

Not sure I follow SPR re continuous session unless you mean the strides themselves which is continuous sprint/easy. The bit you posted spoke about a break before and after then run your main session of the day.

Yes, the 100/100 is continuous. I know some distance runners like to throw strides in the middle of runs so will do them continuously (and they can be useful for practising increasing pace off an easier pace) but most people concerned with practising speed will do them with walk back 2 mins+ recovery.

Hadd is using the short recovery to get you running at a high pace while staying aerobic.

Another 800 race with optical today. It did almost exactly the same as last time in that it got to a max of 185 then tailed off. Given the effort was increasingly harder today and I sprinted the finish, that's not believable so looks like I won't be getting an up to date max HR from optical.
Got my PB down to 2:11.77 and won my race so I'm happy.

Well done on the win, and not surprised to hear of another person who gets dodgy optical readings at max intensity.

Thanks Gus and yes disappointed but not surprised. I was hopeful it would work. Wonder how long it will take to get optical HR that is consistent for all at high intensity.

Good racing SPR. I've not noticed a similar lag or drop off on my Polar OH1+ optical HRM.

Is the Polar an upper arm band?
