Yep, just googled it. That's got to be a more accurate location I think.

I wear it just below my elbow rather than upper arm as I found it chafed as I pull my arm through, but yes I agree inherently it feels like a better spot. I think in addition it's the fact that it sits nice and snug with the elasticated band that helps. The tech of optical readers isn't bad, whether it's on a watch or on a stand alone device. But location and fit seem to be the key factors.
Though I do think too that individual device manufacturers apply subtleties to the way the devices process the data they detect too, which might cause some to read with a bit of delay / lag.

Wow, that's great speed SPR
I do notice at times a drop off with the optical, but rarely am I at very high intensity. A good example though was Abingdon marathon last October. HRM was pretty accurate looking for the 1st half and then in the 2nd half it dropped off and looked like I was jogging round
I entered the virtual VLM last night. Just need to decide now how I treat the race. It wont be a sub 3 attempt but may be a sub 3:15 or could just be a longer than normal long run.

Nice 800m SPR, great speed and always good to get the win.
Bazo, I'm doing the Boston Marathon as a virtual race on 13th September. I'm going to do it on the Cotswold Way and aiming to just get under the 6 hour cutoff. I don't fancy a 26.2 mile time trial on the roads but appreciate that VLM are accepting the results for next year's GFA so it might be a bit different for you.

Thanks all. Hopefully hitting that speed in a race mean I can hit it in training now which in turn leads to a faster time next time.
Any real race options for you guys to do your virtual races in? I know there's an elite Wrexham race in October but that's sub 2:40 men/ 3:00 women.

BR - I think I am OK GFA wise as I have Abingdon from last October, but we don't know cut off times etc.
I haven't decided how I will tackle the virtual VLM. I have worked out a 1.5 mile loop near home that is flat and has no road crossings should I want to tackle a time and I could get my family hopefully to agree to swing by with a bottle of water at agreed times. I could alternatively just go for a long run at any old pace.

That's a tough way to run a marathon Baz. 18 laps gives quite a few opportunities to have a big break, slow down or stop.
SPR - I didn't really look if there were any real races on 13 September, although I doubt it. I fancied a different sort of challenge.
I ran 16 miles along my proposed route yesterday with 1,000m of ascent. 26.2 along that terrain is going to be tough, particularly with my current level of fitness.

It is but it’s tough to have a route that minimises road crossings and is relatively flat. Especially with the thought of a drink station if I was just doing it as a long run I could get away with it.
Another option I thought is a four mile loop at Edinburgh Parkrun route but that could be exposed to the wind on the wrong day.

I am a bit confused by my 100m strides last night. Five of them were 20/21 seconds but three were 24 seconds.
Not sure why and putting down to garmin measurements issues. The route I chose last night though should have been ok.
I am noticing shoe choice Is important. I wear my more Robust shoe as there are easy miles afterwards and they do feel clunky for faster running.
Conditions today look ideal and hopefully stay that way for my post work run where I will be pushing the boat out a little around 82/83% max hr.
