SPR - yes it's the case here, it would be frankly very tedious trying to beat the 45,000 steps in one day. But having said that, the Garmin steps goal for each day is a reminder to get up and walkabout from my desk at regular intervals.

OK ,so there was a sub contest of weekday steps for this week with a group and I am 7th of 20.
I ran 50 miles and also had a couple of miles with Mrs Axe who has started Couch to 5K. I have averaged just over 17k steps per day. I am 55k steps behind the current leader !

So 28,000 steps a day. Given it's a challenge, I don't think that's excessive.
Ask them how they did it.

Garmin thinks I walk at around 2000 steps a mile, so that would make 28,000 = 14M.
That's doable but I'd rather run it than walk it, it'd take 4/5hrs unless you were marching

My stride length when running slowly is about a metre. So that’s about 28K a day. If you walk it at 6km an hour (ie very fast) that’s 4 hours walking non stop. Sounds suss to me.

X-post Joe but we’ve come to the same conclusion.

Do-able if you are on holiday sightseeing. Tough when working 8hrs a day in lockdown !

I did this a few years ago at work during peak marathon training!season. Most of the team regularly managed more steps than I managed on race day. Apparently they all had shorter legs than me.
