I’ve never managed more than 18k averaged over a month.

Easy way to find out is ask them how they did it...

Lockdown does make it harder I agree as one of the tactics people would use at work is go to see people rather than phone/ email.
I wonder if people are walking on the spot at home.

A girl I know who takes her exercise quite seriously (she is 10th ) did post a message to ask what the secrets were of those ahead. There are no replies.
Even when I am on calls I need to be looking at documents and taking notes - no way I could be pounding the streets while on the phone

I did it a few years back did multiple marathon and was nowhere near the top of the league.
Seem to recall doing a double marathon weekend and getting less steps than a girl who said she went shopping on the Saturday and did a 10M walk on the Sunday, wasn't overly impressed.

You'd expect that someone doing 28k per day would want to tell people how they did it.
Ironically, the only person I know that cheated on one of these challenges was a runner that decided the estimate of 2000 steps per mile for walking also applied to their runs...

I suspect they’re not cheating, its just that the step counting in phones etc is more than a little generous!

When I did the corporate step challenge thing is was done with a really cheap belt clip step counter and shall we say some people in it were probably benefitting from a ripple effect

I remember now... the ‘forgot my pedometer’ allowance was 2500 steps/mile ( 😯) - suspect that was applied liberally.

The winner shared her secrets at 10pm last night after racki g up 146775 steps in the working week
Get up early and do 7 miles, 2 miles at lunch, cut the grass/clean house before dinner and another 4 to 5 miles after dinner. I’m also 5ft 1.5, so have little legs, ergo more steps per mile😀. Safe to say this is not sustainable- expect half the number of steps next week.
