Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Great running over the weekend by everyone some cracking results and hopefully they can be carried forward to people’s marathons

Has a weird weeks training did the 5 * 600 metres sessions on Tuesday evening and felt sluggish and most reps slower than last time.
Then went to Rother Valley Parkrun on Saturday as the plan called for a tune up race on the Saturday followed by long run on Sunday. Was aiming for sub 20:50 as at the beginning of March I ran 21:05 and after Tuesdays session wasn’t hopefull of that. In the end I ran 20:01 a PB since restarting running in April 2018 so pleased with that.
Sunday’s long run turned out to be 18.7 miles but I could feel The Parkrun a little in my legs in the last couple of miles.
Two weeks till Boston UK and I think my target will be sub 3:20

Well I for one am amazed that everyone wasn't reading and memorising jda's 2 recent blogs on the maths of the RBR handicapping system :-)

(I appreciated them, but then I'm a numbers nerd too)

Blogs on maths and stats you say? Hmm rushes over to check out.... (especially as JDA has already argued that I in effect ran a couple of minutes faster than I actually did on my recent 20 miler )

If you have accidentally allocated an incorrect race to your RunBritain profile is there a way to delete it.

Asking for a friend.

Hi from Rotterdam, where it is currently overcast, cool and with a gentle breeze. So perfect marathon running conditions, if only the race was today. Tomorrow though is going to be hot and sunny, lovely. Nothing on the London scale so not a showstopper, and it is not due to hit 20’ until after I’ve hopefully finished so we will be OK. After last year I’ll not be attempting any heroics if it does warm up, and it should make the post race beers even more enjoyable.

Training has gone really well for this, similar to last year in terms of miles and with a couple of good 5ks and an HM in the build-up. A few worries with my feet, ones a bit sore and the other has an old blister on so I’ve been faffing about shoes even more than usual. Should everything hold together and the weather play ball I’m hoping to go out at 7.00-7.10s with a mate of similar pace to aim for 3:05-3:10, which would be a decent PB, and maybe close enough to think about having a dart at sub-3 next time out.

15 of us here from the club so the post-race action should be grand whatever the result, as going by last night Rotterdam likes a good night out :-)

Go well in Manchester MHK & jda
