Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Cheers all. Managed to stay out of the bars tonight, which is a decent effort as the hotel is right in the middle of party central so that's first part of the job done :-)

Have a great run in Rome Brunski

While we wait for the results to come back, I'll report a gruelling 20 miler on the flat for me today, one of those days that makes you question your goals, plans. Right confidence shaker, running on tired legs from yesterday's 30/30s session (deliberately so), but have felt tired ever since last weeks 10k effort, so cut back the miles this week, but not to much effect. The pace seems good (8.07), comfortablish to 15 (sub 8), but then legs did not want to know. On plus side heart rate stats look good and I have some holiday time booked to recover, but sheesh that was horrible.

Chris, that sounds like a great run IMO.

My SiL joined the sub 3:15 club again today with 3:09 at Manchester with her previous 3:09 not counting due to the course measurement issues.

3:28:13 for me in Rotterdam. Not what I was after, obviously but a 15 min PB for marathons in a heatwave after a PW in London last year so not all bad. In truth it wasn’t really as tough as that, as a similar paced mate over the short stuff smashed out his first sub-3, although he has always been better than me at HMs and above.

Unlike in London decided on the start line to ease back from 7:0x to 7:1x which helped but was clearly not enough :-) Held it together OKish, only walking through drink stations, but once your target has gone I felt it hard to keep pushing.

Superb event though, a big fast, serious affair but without so much hoopla as London. Great support and loads of music stations which I really enjoyed, especially the fella at 11 miles supplying some ear splitting dutch techno at a million decibels from a 10m high platform – no oompah round here sunshine!

Basically i don't think I'm cut out for marathons, especially when it's hot. 8 20 milers and a good bunch of 50 mile weeks should have seen me better than 3:13 at Boston (UK) 2 years ago. I'm certainly quicker over 5/10k than I was then. I should just go to Manchester every year, but love the euro club trip atmosphere so will probably not worry about it too much and carry on. Hope the stars align eventually :-)

Well done Uyuni, marathons are a tough beast that bite all of us at some point.
