Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Did my first 5k race last weekend (The rather hilly London Peace Run in Greenwich Park) and clocked 22.50 which i was quite proud of, still deciding whether i prefer 5k's to 10ks at the moment but i like being able to push pretty hard for the entire race as opposed to forcing myself to slow down at the start for the 10k.

Speed felt good and was only really the big hills that caused me problems, i definately think on a flat course i could shave off a good minute at least, and maybe save a bit more by starting nearer the start line next time.

Any specific tips for speedwork to do in training?

IanM - do you fancy the Running with David 5k series this winter? It's a monthly thing, Wednesday evenings, just near Chellaston I think. I'll dig out the URL.
