Just finished watching E3. They’ve each picked up different threads from the first series. The first two were pretty good, the third felt confusing, not least because I lost interest in S1 and took less notice as it went on. There just feels like there’s too many separate elements at the moment. Though I have had a lot more moments of connecting things to LotR.

As someone who has far too much time invested in JRRT's published works, I can think of no better summary than the one from Mr E. Blackadder, "Well it started badly, it tailed off a little in the middle and the less said about the end, the better! But apart from that, excellent!"

Lots of familiar faces appearing in episode 4 - particularly good to finally see one in particular on screen.

I've caught up. It's uneven but it's got enough good stuff that I'm very much enjoying it.
Charlie Vickers is brilliant as Halbrand/ someone who has been known by many names, and I did enjoy the Rory Kinnear part in Ep 4.
There just seems to be a lot of plot complications/ convolutions to have things happening simultaneously.

So only one episode to go. I should imagine it will be mostly in Eregion. What about the stranger and the dark wizard? What happening in Khazad Dum? What about Numenor? Where are Isildur and Theo? Too many threads, I feel the season isn't going to wrap up satisfactorily.

Only one left? That’s such a short season!

The huge range of characters, plotlines and locations does create an unfortunate phenomenon when it can feel like the series is both moving too fast and incredibly slowly! I suppose with 3(?) more seasons to go they don't need to so much wrap up as build to some kind of climax. Wet feet for the Numenoreans seems like a good bet.

I can't see the Numenor flood happening this season. Surely there's got to be more building up of Ar Pharazon as a bad guy, and if they're sticking anywhere close to the appendices there's a significant character who has to go to Numenor before that happens.
I think this season ends with the final fall of Eregion and Elrond leading the flight of the Elves north towards, oh I don't know, maybe a dell with a river? He's also got to recover his ring from Adar, and I'd bet we see the end of Adar too. They've been telegraphing the Orcs becoming unhappy with Adar spending their lives in battle for The Greater Good and that's exactly the sort of thing Sauron has been adept at exploiting.
Here's a question: Have we met anyone who is going to become a Ring Wraith yet? My bets are Pharazon's son (Keman?) and Theo. Any other thoughts?

I don’t know the source material, are the names of the ring wraiths recorded?

No, they're not. I mean, one is referred to as "The Witch King of Angmar" for a time but that's something they acquired after becoming a Ring Wraith.
So we're looking for 9 male humans who are going to be corrupted by the power of the rings, possibly with good intentions to make the fall more tragic.
