Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Well, Amazon have spent an awful lot of money making a new series, and with great cheek/reverence released it on the anniversary of Tolkien's death. Will you be watching? Have you seen it? What did you think? I've seen the first two episodes, but no spoliers for those who haven't please!

I haven't seen any of it yet, AJLB but Mr Ness has a Prime account and is talking about watching it. Will pop onto the forum if I see any of it. Remembering not to put any spoilers in here, of course.

Planning to watch at least one of the two episodes tonight.

I gather that Amazon have spent almost $1bn on this series, between rights and production. Do that a few times and it adds up to real money, even for Jeff Bezos. It really is the show that is too big to fail!

I don’t know hunk it will be a problem though. All the preview reviews I’ve seen are very positive.

I do want to see it: no Amazon Prime at the moment but if I get a free AP trial, I'll use it at the end of the series or if not, I'll see if there's a DVD release...

OK - here's my opening offer. It looks fantastic - very cinematic. The cast seem good too, and the dialogue seems pretty solid, given that it's the first adaptation with no Tolkien lines to use. As to plot - too early to say. It's going to be a long wait until next Friday!

Just finished the second episode. It's no Game of Thrones but it wasn't bad was it? ;-)

Seen the first 2 episodes and I'm mostly enjoying it. Some parts are better than others for me but maybe when more of the story develops the weaker strands will make more sense.

It looks amazing and I'll definitely watch the rest of the series.

Our telly keeps spooling. It seems our broadband speed isn't as good as I thought it was.
