Sprung it Independent Financial Adviser

Ours (Dave) is brilliant and actively encouraging us that we can go earlier than we thought… when initially he thought we were aiming too young.

Mr Pix has spoken to one of his old pension providers (final salary from first job)
He was asking about taking a drawdown and they said once he does that he’ll start getting a monthly payment too
I thought you could just take the 25% and leave the rest for a later date?

So that’s standard then?
I had thought you could just take the lump sum, not that a small monthly income would hurt

um
EP - it may depend on the scheme rules, or for the general case, you may need expert advice.
I looked at some of myy old annual updates (from when I was working) and they are all phrased : "At retirement you may eect to give up part of your pension to receive a Pension Commencement Lump Sum ..."

So for my DB scheme, the tax free cash and start of pension payments were tied together.

Thanks all
See IFA again on Monday

Seeing what’s best for Mr Pix use savings or pension
For me it’s savings as I can’t access my PPP until 57
It was nice to hear him say our actions re gran’s money had been wise
