Use it or lose it. No reason you can’t keep running until you peg it

Thats true @Northern Exile , I have slowed down considerably over the last 12 months, but I consider myself a runner - never mind how slow I am now, and intend to keep doing that while I still can, life does throw curveballs, but I see people struggling on at parkrun every week, and if they can find the motivation, so can I.

Sometimes life throws things at you that really do stop you running. I know, NE. And those can happen at any age. So take my comment as ruling out those unknown factors. |

I’ve recently had to stop running because of knee issues causing several days of discomfort after a run, but my new challenge at parkrun is to walk as briskly as I can. It’s not really racing but I try to match or improve my on previous time (without being tempted to break into a trot) so this is my motivation to continue at parkrun. |

I don't plan to continue running until I feel as if I'm struggling on, and if any whippersnapper tells me that if I can find the motivation so can they I'll give them a special glare.

I think you can be your own judge. If running has become very painful, then it's up to you how much you're willing to endure.
