Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Suitably bleak :-)

I think you were just missing spaces between tagged images. Maybe that's a feedback that should go to fetcheveryone

When I trail-run I see trees, rock and more trees. I hope this is not too exciting.

I go past this most days. It’s a council building with an interesting history (Singer family), and I’ve been to many weddings there over the years, but it’s falling into disrepair and been closed for many years. There is a coffee shop that is trying to raise funds towards a repair, but I think they’ll need to sell a few coffees to repair the woodworm that the building is reportedly riddled with.

Some info here if interested, including some pics when it was in a better state. It also doubled as Buck Palace in a film, by all accounts.

I read the article with interest and not a small amount of resignation. A building with such an illustrious and exotic history surely deserves better but admin and financial wrangles will surely last longer than the building itself.

The article mentions Frank Matcham who designed the Theatre Royal, Wakefield, my home town. After years of neglect it was fully restored, the highlight being the wonderfully ostentatious interior.
