After some delving, I found this piece about the restoration of the Upper Westgate area: yourdistrict.wakefield.gov.uk As for the 1st pic, it might be a service road behind The Ridings shopping centre. Wakefield Cathedral to the right has the tallest spire in Yorkshire. Way too interesting!

But I recently took some of my southern friends back to introduce them to Rugby League. The top picture was from the Hotel front door, I think Holiday inn express. Very welcoming but we did enjoy an evening at the Red Shed.
