Brilliant Maz? Well I think you did bloody well but over did it considering you haven't done speedwork for a while. I'm not sure about the eyeballs out...no real need...get them only 85-90% out! I think you might find 8-10 reps a more sensible maximum for a month (at once a week) and sticking to 60 seconds for the first four or five and then 90 seconds. After a month start with 90 seconds and do the second half for 2 minutes. That 3 minute one was the sort of thing I've thrown in but really just not needed at this stage of your return. Patience and persistence and slowly increasing duration is, as you know, the key to success. Personally I prefer Fartleks and when I am into a period of "speedwork" I use my HRM as an indication of what I'm doing. I'm only going to maintain a certain level now, my best days are long gone!

well...I did it this morning! Five mile warm up at an easy pace and then "bust a gut" to get an exact mile in 9.13. What now?!

I'm still here, sort of. Have decided that speed isn't my thing at the moment and am building up miles instead. Well done everyone who's still working towards the goal.

Nice mile there Steve!

Hi Jenny, I'm still here, still plodding away at it. I seem to have stuck around the 10.30 fastest effort, although not unexpected as training hasn't been totally consistent ;-) There's still time to improve this year!

I'm getting back into training now. Going back to the start which if my quick skwizz through the earlier posts was right then I need to run as fast as I can for 2 and a half minutes :-)

I'm sure that was the first challenge Bleggy. I did a track session last night and it hurt quite a bit, hence slow running seems a better choice for now. Need to build up endurance first I think.
