Looks like I'm the only one on this thread except for LazyD..did 5.2 miles this morning in 51.53 which works out at 9.59 miling. Think I can leave this thread now!

Thanks folks. Actually did a mile time trial in April and managed 9.13. Bit reluctant to push too hard after reading the article on The Heart in the latest Running Magazine!! I think LazyD would leave me in my tracks...

I had a sneaky read while in Tesco this morning. Obviously it was a bit of a speed-read, but it seemed to say: *endurance (esp ultra) running can change your heart muscle in some way *don't ignore any strange breathlessness or chest pains * the benefits of running far outweigh any increased risk of cardiac events.
So come on everyone, no excuses!!

I took to carrying my phone for a few days out on my runs after reading it! I know the evidence seems to point to positive benefits LazyD...I guess that I was being a bit overall squeamish as I was reading about the ticker!
