I found it less crowded than in previous years and my Garmin only recorded 26.45 miles which I thought was pretty good.

It was horrendously congested where i was - think it was because pacers from all starts converged and at 3:30 they bring a lot of hopeful runners with them. I saw at least 3 people fall, I hope everyone was ok.

From the sidelines, it only looked really congested around the pace groups.

Will have to make big improvements or deteriorations to get away from them next year then!!

Yeah so frustrating passing runners 20 mins into race who obviously hadn’t a clue about their pace, nearly taken out 10 times by people just making a bee line for water stations, selfies on tower bridge or stopping to walk in the middle of the road, it just really kills your momentum and uses so much energy to stop suddenly!!

Apart from that awesome, the noise is mental and support is indescribable!!

The worst stoppers were those on (say) the right hand side who suddenly hear a shout from a supporter group on the left hand side and make a 90deg change of direction to rush across. Mostly in the last couple of miles.

I hadn't appreciated last year how narrow it gets in the mile or so before Westminster.

If they did a 9am start they could get more waves in and more runners, but it might strain the transport system a little.

What was it like at the 3-mile convergence point? The two years I’ve done it (2017 and ‘21) that was the worst point for me. In ‘17 I was a little behind our 3:45 pacer and we merged into a 4:30 group from another start which meant a lot of overtaking and swerving.

I’ve blogged about my volunteering experience :-)

Wife reported that she (red) joined at that point with the blue 4hr pacing group blocking the road so struggled to pass for a bit. But the brain is more in gear at that point so easier to dodge others.

It was ok at that point at the pace I was running, I dont know whether by luck or design but the starts merged at the same pace so 3:30 runners joined 3:30 runners from the other start. The problem was they all had so many runners with them. If you'd been trying to overtake you'd have found it next to impossible

Lovely to be greeted by two fetchies at the finish line who recognised my red Fetch vest. Sorry I’ve forgotten both their names. 4:04 finish for me involving 3 mile walk from 22-25 due to quad cramps. Hope I didn’t get in anyone’s way! Like a few others GPS was mad at Canary Wharf. Crowds sensational. Awesome day 😊
