Any hints or tips on spectating? I'm off at about 10:04, my better half is off at about 10:34 and I'm gunning for around 3:15, whereas she's lookinto dip under 4 hours. A bit of maths suggests she'll come across Tower Bridge and through past the two way section before I get back to that point after going though the Canary Wharf section, so initial plan would be to get the family on Tower Bridge, see both of us through there and then dip under the road and start the walk back along towards Embankment so that they can give me a boost at about 23 miles, and then set up maybe Waterloo Bridge or even Charing Cross bridge area so I can join them to see her home before cutting through to Horseguards to meet up. Sound sensible? |

Tower Bridge is absolutely rammed with spectators. They would need to be very early to get a decent spot.

We managed that last year without too much trouble, to be honest. Though I probably did get them there nice and early (thinking arriving there in time to see the wheelchair and women's elite fields go through, so maybe 10:15-10:30ish). Rammed, but equally atmospheric; it was standing there watching my son run that really made me appreciate that London was a race worth doing at least once because the atmosphere was v different to even a big race like Manchester.

It's best to agree a very specific location for spectating (eg "just where Tower Bridge starts on the Tower of London side") or even better, at a specific mile marker. It's really easy to miss people, happened to me multiple times even when I was looking for someone.

A helium filled balloon for the spectators to hold, while not necessarily that environmentally friendly, gives the runner something to look out for. The spectators all look the same after a while! Fetchpoint is just after mile 22 and you can see both sides of the road from there. w3w.co |

Red 6 for me. Other family members have recommended that my family go to Rotherhithe to watch, then a clipper along the Thames towards the finish for the end, avoiding the crowds on land. |
