Usual bad night's sleep ahead of a race, dreams including a plane crash and setting off on a trail ultra in the wrong shoes.

Now sitting on an earlier than planned tube at Edgware as Starbucks was closed so my planned treat of a double espresso was scuppered.

Number on, watch on, shoes on, gels in bag. All good. Now I can start worrying about my better half getting the 4 boys corralled into exiting the hotel in time to get a good spot on TB.

Good luck and great running to everyone doing the London Marathon today.

Nerves aplenty, but will be great. It'll hurt, but will be fantastic.

In the blue start area now - at the "hurry up and wait" phase.
Still dry, sun peeking through the clouds.

Good luck everyone!

Thank you TeeBee!

Power cut at 02:55 this morning meant the fridge started going beep beep beep...until it switched on to gas a few minutes later.

Power was still off when I got up just after 6 after drifting for a few hours!

On the train to Marylebone now!

About This Thread

Maintained by Kirsty
After getting lucky in the ballot yesterday, I couldn’t find a thread, so thought I’d start one. Bit of background: I ran 7 marathons (2 London, 2002 and 2006) between 2002 and 2016, fastest 4:06, slowest 5:09. Major health issues in 2017 and 2019 and I felt that my marathon days were over, but I kept entering the ballot, safe in the knowledge I wouldn’t get in - and now I have! I am probably looking at walking the whole way, or possibly jeffing. I’m very excited and very nervous!
