Linds, i'm sure it's been said before but you are doing a good job guiding and working with a sensible balance for all.
You shouldn't be put off by a school and it's staff who seem to be narrow minded and weirdly picky at best.
Be proud and confident, you've got this.

Linds he actually asked what I would do once he was home. I told him he wouldn't need a text because he was home and could do the actual advent calendar. I will in reality probably still send him a stupid text each day.

Oh and what lammo said. The school are shit, you are not. It's a sad fact that sometimes you have to fight for your kids.

This all sounds so like the experience we had with Fellmouse at The School For Very Clever Girls ten years ago. When we moved her she was the same teenager, but our lives were a great deal more pleasant because the schools took the attitude that Fellmouse was a decent human being and we weren't wilfully bad parents.

That's exactly it, V'rap. Thank you. LittleD won't move, but hopefully will choose a different 6th form.

Thanks, lammo. That really helps. It's kind of shit when the school call you and say 'we think your child is mixed up in county line gangs and we want you to sort it out'.
HP, I hope you will send him a text every day. I think that would be brilliant. Thank you also for your support. Sending her to that school was such a mistake but we have to live with it for another 18 months.

Linds, sounds like you have been really unlucky with the school and some of what goes on just defies belief really and in particular yesterdays call.
It took my mind back to when my daughter was maybe younger than 10 and a new girl joined. This girl came from a difficult background but was way more streetwise than a 10 year old should be. Somehow she befriended my daughter and there were various issues with other girls who she decided she didnt like.
Ultimately we got called in as my daughter who we sent in with a packed lunch had been stealing dinner tickets. In this case the school knew what was going on but had to tell us. Thankfully the school did sort the problem out themselves which was a relief.

That sounds stressful. Glad the school were supportive.
I've spoken to the supportive teacher this morning (not about the unsuitable friends) and feel really reassured that she is on top of it. Phew.
