It's ordinary school shoes for me. J has wide feet plus orthotics and would like lace ups which considering he is nearly 14 isn't really asking too much. Can we find a pair to fit. I think I am on the 4th pair bought on-line which don't fit. Being in small town, we don't have much choice (Clarks - and they haven't fitted for a while) and with lockdown etc, haven't been able to go anywhere. So off to the next biggest place on Saturdays to see what we can find. Wish me luck!

Any suggestions on brands to try. Looking for size 5 1/2 which is too small for.most men's shoes.

Sensible “girl” shoes are almost non existent in that size. They’ve usually always got heels or some horrible fashion additions. D15 wears men’s shoes, although that makes her happy anyway.

Pin Lady, I feel for your son. My S13 was born with clubbed feet and has had many surgeries. He also wears orthotics and has his boots made by the hospital appliance department (with Velcro straps). We could never get regular shoes to accommodate his orthotics. He’s almost 14 and wishes her could wear normal shoes. His gait is so bad that even in specially made boots, he has major overpronation and wears the heels down in about 6 weeks. They weigh a ton, which doesn’t help. He sees his consultant again next week but has already been told he can’t have more surgery until he’s finished growing.

FFS. Had a really good meeting with school (and the useless EP) this afternoon and really felt hopeful about the way forward. Then just now the head of year called to say she'd been seen talking to kids from other schools outside school and there is a suspicion that those kids are involved in criminal activity and one of them has now 'gone missing' and they think they are involved in county lines gangs and could I please make sure I know where she is and when she's coming home. FFS. I asked him how he proposed I addressed this subject with her when he couldn't give me anything other than hearsay and no details and he just kept repeating that he'd been asked to call me.

That's not a bad idea.

And now I'm a bit scared.

Feels like it is always two steps back with that school. I’m sorry.

Will she respond if you call/message her?
