Little Miss Happy
It was my first big week since Boston jda as I've had a few issues to manage (cuboid syndrome and a resultant pull in my peroneus aggravating my knee) so not in quite the place I hoped to be - but then when are we? If I can find cheap enough accommodation I'll probably still do Yeovil as it looks like a nice race and would only mean two more big weeks.

1st race as a 40 year old today!
37:51 and 4th out of 297!
No chance of a age category prize as the winner was V40 and no chance of podium as I was over 90 minutes behind 3rd place!
Overall happy to be under (just!) 38 minutes, especially after the carnage of London!
Postie - Good to see you back in the saddle!
Chris - That is a phenomenal solo 10k. Not long till you ditch us for the sub 2:45 thread!
jda - What you hoping for at Wilmslow?
FergusG - I'm going to wait a bit longer than that and maybe do Yorkshire or Abingdon in October 2019!?
LMH - How did the 10k today?

90 minutes behind third place Lee? 4th should give you the age category though as the V40 who won would usually only get the one prize. If I missed it - happy birthday!
Today went a little better than expected. I ran four miles to the race (it takes me a long time to get going these days), ran a mile warm up after collecting my number and waiting around for a bit and then managed 39.24 (Garmin time, may have scraped a second less officially) which was good enough for second woman today.

LMH - Well done and even better considering the miles in your legs before the race even started! 👍🏻
90 seconds not minutes, I wasn’t that far behind! 😄

I did wonder I really should try racing a 10k tapered. I'm pretty sure I should be able to PB - mind you, it is soft at 38.52.

Nice racing Lee and LMH!
V40 is a ridiculously strong age group where I am and there's a bunch of 38-39 year olds who are going to make it even tougher in the near future!
Chris sub-36 that's just ridiculous in training, agree with Lee you'll def be going sub 2:45 before long!
I've had a decent weekend, yesterday missed the start to parkrun and picked my way through the majority of a field of 720 runners to finish in 31st (18:00 watch time, 19:2x barcode time 😬). Today got out for a nice HM distance up and back down the five weirs walk whilst my youngest was at a pizza making party!
4 weeks until my next proper race, that'll be the Hull HM. I'm not sure I'll be in as good shape as I was for my last half but I can taper a but for this one so hopefully I'll be able to dip under 80 again?

I struggled round to a 20.46 parkrun on what is probably considered one of the faster courses out there. Shows how far I am from race shape. 😲

Well done to the racers. I’m sort of looking forward to getting out to f the v40s soon though I shouldn’t really be looking forward to getting older! But top 15 at mancs could easily translate to a podium next year if I have a decent run.
Lee, a couple of months ago I'd have been thinking of troubling 1:20 but depending on how the holiday goes I might just enjoy the day out...I do have the 10k bolderboulder to test myself in a couple of weeks but that's at altitude so the actual time will be poor.

Well done to the racers. Well done to the trainers.
I've had several easy weeks and my first run of any note this morning with an absolutely lovely easy 14miles on a clear morning near the canal. I think I've decided on doing Manchester next spring and no marathon this autumn. In the meantime I've got a short term focus on completing a 100km in July, and then will probably have a few more easy/parkrun focused months, before getting my running mojo back properly.

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Life is easier in the 50 plus age bracket. Though I did manage to finish 3rd 50 something from my club in one hill race.
Feeling pretty good after London. A week of carefree running on the West Highland Way (I was supporting walkers and moving vehicles about with lots of time for running) and a week off with a tight calf led me to feel quick at parkrun Saturday. Not sure what to target next.
