Well if you want a good fast professionally run marathon with a high probability of good conditions then Manchester has to be very near the top of the list. Price is just about to go up (tonight!) IIRC.

paul0 - jda is correct, the price for Manchester 2019 will be £10 more after midnight tonight; although they are actually closing entries at midnight until September (I've no idea what the logic is behind that decision!).

Could you not squeeze in another before the deadline Paul? If not I'd recommend Boston (Lincs) I was very impressed with the organisation, support etc. for next April.

3.7 miles today in gale force winds and heavy showers! 💨☔️🌧 First since London and the conditions couldn’t have been any more different! Legs were stiff and felt like lead! Put in for London Marathon ballot today..........😐

First run since London for me too today. 4 miles over 30 minutes at lunchtime today, and everything felt good
Seriously considering Manchester for next spring. It feels wasteful to not cash-in my London GFA time from Abingdon (2:58 falls comfortably under the 3:15 entry-point for my age) but I quite fancy a less crowded and cooler opportunity to chase a good finishing time!

Wife's birthday today so snuck in a little up and down progression run through the parks at lunch as missing my MNC run tonight. Was flying toward the end and my overall beats per mile were back below what I was seeing pre-hot weather. I averaged 890 bpm today, whereas in London it climbed from 926-977-985-998-1039-1043 (5 mile intervals) - so around 980 average.
I was expecting to average around 920 bpm in London before the heat!

I thought that was an over-share until I hit the word 'run'

Right then - it's now one month until the postponed Alloa Half Marathon that was originally intended as a tune-up race for London. Not sure what to do in terms of training, as I haven't run a Half outside of marathon-training since I first started running. Any thoughts?

A couple of long tempo runs at race pace will see you right Fergus. 5 to 7 miles will suffice.
