Fergus, I am doing Alloa and also the EMF half the week before. My plan is roughly:

- Midweek miles at HM pace ( last night was 2 x 2 miles )
- Saturday parkrun at a bit faster than HM pace
- Sunday long run of about 15
- Other easy miles around the above

Thanks gents - much appreciated. It'll be taper time before I know it!

Useful ideas. I'll be doing Wilmslow half (also a postponed marathon tune-up!) in late June but by then will probably have lost all my marathon fitness :-( I guess it's better than no running at all though. I do hope to fit in a couple of parkruns and a 10k before then as well.

I'd be inclined to merge Baz's and Posties ideas. Midweek tempo at around HMP and a weekend parkrun. I'd not really taper either as you've not much time. Maybe just the last week substitute the tempo for a 30/30 workout or something else as a sharpener! You should have plenty of endurance still from the marathon training but easy miles will help up to 10 days-2 weeks out!

B - I am doing both and this weeks 2 x 2 at HMP was just an easy back in and will be 3 x 2 then 4 x 2 I think

I ran a 10k PB two weeks after London last year. Did next to nothing for 10 days after that race, raced a local 5k on the Wednesday to shake off the cobwebs and then smashed it in Bristol four days later. It's all about management and listening to your body in order to come back quickly.

Yeah I'd say +1 to what postie says for that sort of timescale. I ran a 30 sec parkrun pb 6 days after manchester marathon last year, and I wasn't even trying that hard. A full campaign works wonders for general aerobic fitness. But my half is still nearly 2 months away which probably needs a bit more attention to strategy :-)

Nice one Baz, sounds good to me!

I'm hoping for another parkrun blast at the weekend, last week I was 18 secs off the PB, this week I'm hoping to be under it!

I can run short and fast 1-2 weeks post marathon but the residual fatigue is evident after about 8 miles or so and that takes another couple of weeks to go.

Thought I’d volunteer to pace at parkrun today...there are sections under trees that throws the gps which made it tough (and measure at 2.9 miles)

Came in a 20.13 so a little annoyed I didn’t get closer to 20 however from 3k onwards I was running on my own which was tough knowing I was dropping the people who wanted to stay with me. An interesting morning
