Id be wary about ordering from that site, looks like it's only been open a few days and they've reduced every trainer by about 40% (more for these if true RRP used).

Few questions online about whether it's legit or not...

No - I meant the ones that had been linked to in the previous post. Grammar error, are those would have been better.

Are they really THAT good to blow a fat wad on them?

I doubt very much they would suit everyone postie - or that they will make you as fast as consistent training will. Marginal gains though..........

Seems plausible that they bring clear benefits to some runners. Of course it also depends what your alternative is.

I'm sure a good stash of PEDs is easier to get hold of. Might be cheaper too. And they are endorsed by much of the professional running elite ;-).

True that. I had been meaning to have a go with nitrate (which has the distinct advantages of being legal) last time but never got round to it.

Morning All. Been a while since I posted, mainly due to the fact there's not been much worth reporting. I'm just ticking over at the moment at the same time as doing plenty of rolling and stretching in an effort to be ready to start my next training block in mid-June.

What are people's thoughts on training to heart rate? I know the evidence to support it but I was just wondering if anyone sticks to certain zones for certain types of sessions or aims for a prescribed pace. For example, I hopefully will be aiming to go sub 3 at York so should I run all my MP miles at that pace or should I do them in the relevant HR zone and see what pace that comes out at? Interested to hear people's differing approaches. Thanks :)

I used to follow the heart-rate marathon training plan from Full Potential that is available on Garmin Connect, before moving across to the pace-based P&D plans. Both encouraged me to adjust my effort/speed for the type of run called for on any given day, but I found the P&D plan better in terms of higher mileage and less focus on very short distance speedwork.

If you're honest about your paces (P&D will ask for 10K pace, HM pace, etc), the P&D plan should guide you to the right pace for each training run. I guess that relies on picking a target pace that is a realistic goal however. For that, I'd probably rely on gut-feel, history, intuition and ambition. I suspect no one here started their sub-3 journey because a heart-rate exercise picked 2:59 for them!

Fergus is spot on there. My times always suggested that I *should* be able to run a sub3 and so it was easy to pick a target MP and I ran a trench in a local housing estate grooving in those 6:45s.

I often see the question whether early in the schedule you should be a bit more conservative and let yourself train in to the final MP. I can sympathise with that approach but the reality for me was that if I was fit enough to start a P&D / JD schedule I was fit enough to do a MLR with 6 miles at 6:45s.....
