18 dead for me at Long Eaton this morning and mighty chuffed with that. Would have been even more chuffed had I not gone the wrong way at one point as that probably cost me a 17.xx. Fortunately the chap behind called me back so I could swerve back on-course. The route they do to avoid flooding has a bit of MT in it so the regular route should be a bit quicker and I’ll have another go next week, loving the short stuff

Is that an all time parkrun best Uyuni? Cracker of a time!

Uyuni, larks, those are great 5k times. Fantastic.
I need to get down to parkrun at some point. Usually Saturday morning involves getting one of the puzzlerettes to ballet class.

Cheers gents. Yes an all-time parkrun PB, getting under 18 at parkrun was/is a major target for the year so I hope the navigational cock-up this morning doesn't cost me for too long

Some great running gents. Well done on the PB larkim, and a brilliant parkrun this morning Uyuni.
No barcode so don't know for sure, but I'm claiming 20 flat at Falkirk this morning which given the hills is a decent outing. I'd expect to run 10k in twice my Falkirk parkrun time, so I'd say I'm in roughly 19:10/19:20 shape on a flat course. Had more in the tank today, but I've not hammered a parkrun in almost 2 years so didn't know how hard to attack it and a blow up would have been a disaster mentally. Maybe try again next week and risk the blow up.
I've had a decent consistent month of training and if I can keep it up, I'll be looking to break my very soft 18:45 PB (my second fastest 5k was during a 10k...) early in the summer.

Well done guys, cracking times. Bazo, have you ever done Silverknowes champs 5K? People I know go 10-30s quicker than their parkrun times on same course. Consistently quicker. I have to say, I can't explain it! I've always wanted to give it a go, for obvious reasons! But it's never quite fitted in for me. G

If that champs 5k is anything like the 5k on Friday, the sheer volume and pace of the field drags you along to paces you'd otherwise think impossible. I can't quite explain it, other than there is nothing better to drag you along than being surrounded by people in front, behind, to the side all running at the same pace as you and all eager to get to the finish line.
I also think people key themselves up for a proper champs race. I know I was preoccupied with thinking about it on Friday in the way that you do if you're targeting a PB, and I'd not be like that for a parkrun.
I'm absolutely certain that at least 20s of the PB is down to the environment making me push harder than I would do in a parkrun. I'll also add perhaps 3-5s down to the net downhill nature of the course.
Out of the 447 runners who have RunBritain profiles who took part in the race on Friday, 210 achieved a PB.
As the organisers say, it's a fast course

Not done it and too late for next Friday. There are two factors in it being faster.
One quality of field
Two. It’s the correct distance and not slightly long which crampons parkrun is.
I will do parkrun Saturday and look for low 19. Sub 19 the week after.

Bazo, to answer your question about sub 19 posted on parkrun thread (!) no, not planning on going to Cramond any time soon. I'm nowhere near 19 at the moment. I'd be doing well to break 20! My local parkrun is probably Kirkcaldy now (well Dunfermline is local but it's got a pig of a hill!).
Only 3 mins further away by car though, according to Google maps! I tend to only do parkrun when I am either a. looking to do a decent time; b. doing it as a social or pacing someone or c. as speed work. But c. is rare because speed work is more often done with a club.
I'm not ready for speed work yet either. Still stiff post marathon. You recover better than me, clearly! G

I logged my debut track 5000m on Fetch over the weekend with my 19:52 time (slow relatively to my 5k PB due to the 33 mile ultra in the legs from the day before), but as a consequence my 5k time appears no longer to be showing on my "race times" bit of my profile (at least, as far as I can see).
As this is 90s+ slower than my real 5k PB, this mildly annoys me. Do 5000m track races trump 5k road races? Anyone else see this?
