I suppose you'd expect the English champs to be fast. It has done well as a race though, it runs spring and autumn flavours and rivals Christleton now as the key 5k fast race despite only going for a few years.

Looking damp out there for tonight's race. Target is 18:50 or faster, should be within reach unless I go nuts for the first mile.

In other news, for some peculiar reason yesterday I signed up for my first ever track 5000m - which takes place the day after the 33 mile SSTC. If I can walk, I'll run. But it's no entries on the day, so I thought "why not?!" Sod the injury risk, I've got to be at the venue anyway (County champs so offspring running) and it'll be an amusing way to spend 20-25 minutes....

Best of luck tonight lark, get to it!

On the other one, I'm speechless, I've done some daft things in my time, racing a 5-miler this week 3 days after London probably wasn't the wisest, but a track 5000 the day after an ultra :-O

You'll be striving on towards 18 again soon enough WW I'm sure. Hopefully I will as well starting tomorrow morning at Long Eaton. Alas some of the course was still underwater earlier in the week so it might be on the 'alternative' route which isn't quite as lightening fast as the regular route. Still better than the local alternatives so I'll give it a good go

Flat out for me at parkrun tomorrow, see if I can beat last weeks 18:44. Currently considering Harrow as haven't been there before. I think it's flat-ish!

Harrogate for me tomorrow, always a nice day out. Did 19:08 last summer and I should be fitter now but I doubt I’ll be troubling the PB as it must be a bit soft at the moment.

Awesome splits lark - while you've got to love a downhill first mile holding it together when it starts going up again is what got you the time
