Predictor wasn't impressed with my session and changed the 5000 prediction to 18:06 🀣

This all makes me feel much better about my predictor. It’s slowly crept up to 17:25 recently..

Cracking session SPR and grand race RHB - definitely more to come πŸ‘

Pretty well everything your watches tell you apart from distance, time and, in some honourable cases, heart rate, must be treated with a huge pinch of salt.

Late decision to join club track session last night, pretty happy overall. 4x400 off 60-75s, 3min off, 1x1600, 3 min, 4x400 off 60-75s again. Averaged about 18:10 pace for the session, mile in the middle was a little slower than I'd like and was feeling pretty on the limit at the end of that.

I'm not troubling 17:xx, but still not in a bad place despite missing quite a few runs over the last couple of weeks due to "stuff".

How is that average broken down @larkim? I'd expect the 400s to be around 1500 to 3000 pace but don't know what direction you were given for the session.

Slighty under for 400s, slightly over for 1600, under for 400s. Though I would have liked to have held the 1600m to sub 18:30 pace. The final 400s suggest I got the pacing about right though, and 174bpm for the final part of the 1600m is me working v hard.

400s
1) 0.25mi - 1:28(5:52/mi) 125/134bpm [734b/mi] 16cal 10.21/12.04mph
2) 0.25mi - 1:25(5:36/mi) 133/143bpm [745b/mi] 18cal 10.71/12.75mph
3) 0.26mi - 1:26(5:32/mi) 139/152bpm [770b/mi] 19cal 10.83/12.08mph
4) 0.25mi - 1:25(5:33/mi) 142/149bpm [789b/mi] 19cal 10.8/12.4mph

1600 - totals 6:01 (6:03 pace for a proper mile)
5) 0.25mi - 1:29(6:00/mi) 142/164bpm [852b/mi] 18cal 9.99/11.19mph
6) 0.25mi - 1:30(6:00/mi) 168/172bpm [1008b/mi] 24cal 10/10.35mph
7) 0.25mi - 1:32(6:05/mi) 173/174bpm [1053b/mi] 26cal 9.86/10mph
8) 0.25mi - 1:30(5:56/mi) 174/176bpm [1031b/mi] 26cal 10.12/10.06mph

400s
9) 0.26mi - 1:26(5:33/mi) 149/167bpm [827b/mi] 19cal 10.8/11.88mph
10) 0.26mi - 1:25(5:32/mi) 157/170bpm [868b/mi] 21cal 10.86/11.54mph
11) 0.25mi - 1:25(5:39/mi) 159/171bpm [898b/mi] 21cal 10.63/11.46mph
12) 0.25mi - 1:24(5:34/mi) 163/174bpm [907b/mi] 22cal 10.78/12.92mph

Looks like the 1500/5000 split I expected to me.

I've always given myself fairly generous recoveries in reps, maybe too much.

Today was 5 x 1k with 0.5 mile recoveries (circa 3mins). Pace was 5k PB pace, felt tough by the last one but am I been too easy on myself? Maybe aim to at least get down to 0.5k recoveries (circa 2 mins) next time?
