I see there have been a few comments around about people not sleeping very well at the moment, so thought we should have a place to discuss.

I used to sleep like a log, then I had kids and am now quite a light sleeper, but recently I've been waking up after 3-4 hours of sleep, and really struggling to go back to sleep and i'm not quite sure why, any suggestions?

As an aside if I have an afternoon snooze on the sofa (sadly haven't managed this for a long time) for a couple of hours that seems to regenerate me like about 8 hours sleep at night, lovely.

How's your sleep at the moment?

I tend to have a few nights of very restless, light sleep, followed by one really good one. This is a new sleep routine for me and when I think about it, its timing ties in with the start of lockdown.
Sometimes the restlessness leads to me getting up for a drink or reading for an hour or so.

When I was young I remember 'all-nighter' meant being out all night partying, now an 'all-nighter' is the extremely rare occasion that I sleep through the night and is far more satisfying and celebrates than any of the old all-nighters were.

Our neighbourhood all have the same alarm clock. Unfortunately it's stuck on 5.30am and you can't change the alarm sound off of "Extremely loud motorbike"

I usually get a bladder call in the small hours of the morning and have a flick around the internet or do a few moves of Scrabble on my 'phone while I'm awake, but my sleep is pretty much as normal and I'm rarely tired in the daytime so it must be sufficient.

I find marathon training aids sleep! I regularly get 8h+ a night with one bladder call (but then straight back to sleep). I guess I'm lucky

Quite bad at the moment with awful nightmares. Quite normal for me in times of stress.

Also used to sleep well, was known to sleep through thunderstorms.

But my work shifts now don't sleep so well. Though last few weeks have been sleeping long shifts.

Not today had about 6 hours which seems the norm after a night shift

Bad enough getting the children to sleep without having problems dropping off myself.

Like SarahWoo, I could have a really good night and then a couple of bad ones. Usually getting to sleep is difficult although there has been an odd night where I've woken up and struggled going back to sleep again.

I fall asleep quickly, but wake after 3-4 hours and then struggle to get back to sleep. I just start *thinking* which usually becomes *overthinking* Occasional nightmares but not had one for a while. I don't think I've ever been good at sleeping though, but it has got worse over the last year or so.
