Rcouture-I have HCA marathon in odense as my main target, probably looking at Fleetwood half at the end of August as my target half, nothing else planned.I didn't want to plan anything while recovering but feel I can now so will look for a shorter race.

6 miles this morning. Can’t say I particularly enjoyed it - breathing laboured but I think because of hay fever. I hope I’m not additionally coming down with something, although RHR is okay, but I’ll keep an eye on that.

Big G - hope that just the hay fever was responsible especially as you had a bad night.

WP - well done, cheese on toast last night?

I'm hoping we'll get some rain soon our verges and parks are burnt yellow.

I forgot to say earlier, my rant about the Invincibles distracted me, seagull went for me when I was running past B & Q this morning.
So looks like that vicious bird is back again. I ran past earlier just had a bit of clicking at me, no more.

Coming home there was more traffic and I had to stop to wait for a gap in the traffic. I hadn't noticed the gull at all as I was concentrating on the traffic. When the traffic cleared he swooped but I thwarted his attack by crossing the road, he swerved to come after me but a van came along and he had to give up.

WP - good to hear the cheese on toast is still working for you.

No, haven't bought any eyes 👀 yet. Will wait and see if I become a serious target 😱

I love my invincibles, I actually prefer them for long runs, once I get moving in them I find the foam really protects the legs.
Usual 7 after work, looked good when I went out,2 miles in it was torrential, had to hide under a tree for a few minutes, then just light or no rain for the rest.

Shades well done on outsmarting the seagull.

WP I’m a big fan of a cheese toastie, although go through stages of having loads then forgetting we have a sandwich toaster.

Big G sounds like your old man is digging his heels in! Even if your dad isn’t doing the exercises the physio wouldn’t be surprised, I reckon 95% of their clients/ patients don’t.

Rcouture great mileage and hopefully you can shift the niggles. Sounds like you have a good employer and network around you. Great you’ve convinced the babysitter to become a nanny.

Weekend events have taken their toll, it of a sore throat for a few days. Felt a bit of a struggle today’s run. Curtailed at 4 miles.

Ian - have you tried the Novablasts? I think you'd like them too for training.

Still no rain down here 😞

Rob - I may have outsmarted that seagull yesterday but I suspect he'll have another go at me, I run that way once or twice a week.

Hope you're feeling better for this weekend's marathon.

5 miles today, nice morning, feeling fresher. Legs still a bit gym tired, I'll need to ease up on the leg sessions as I need to focus on my running for now, 5 weeks to IOM.

Even though I'd seen on the news that Cav had won yesterday's TdeF stage, I was still on my feet screaming at the telly when I watched the highlights programme.

Shades, I abruptly woke Tigg up from his snooze when Cav won!

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
