Went out to Motleys Xmas meal last night. 25 of us there, I think. Nice catching up with everyone. I think most of the people are a part of official clubs, Motleys are basically just a social club, who happen to be runners :) Simon B is as bad as Shades for trying to get people signed up to DD :) He loves that race, but he’s had a bad year, but hoping for better next year. I think a lot of us are like that, I know I am! He’s doing his 200th parkrun next weekend at Killerton so I’m going to that, and breakfast after. We’ve got some nice, running shirts, with the logo, in red that look pretty good, from a local supplier, so I think we’re all going in those.

They are mainly trail runners, but I think have plans to do most of the DD route in around 10-mile chunks, first one on 5 Jan. If I can, I’ll go along as they’re a decent bunch.

That’s two Xmas meals out in 2 nights, so feeling a bit waddly! Going out for a run shortly though. It’s strange as I’m actually feeling pretty good/strong with my running, but pace is still hopeless.

11 weeks until Seville….gulp!

Forgot to say, Facebook has obviously picked up I’m a runner. But somehow has me down as a Swifty. I’m offended! :) I wonder if Rcouture and Cal will go along to this one :)

Big G I would be offended if it was me ;)

Just back I was suitably wrapped up in layers .I have a windstopper Concurve jacket it is old as changed name to Gore but hardly worn, it certainly kept the wind away and I got too warm ;-) 5+ miles all done strange ache in glutes.

Lots of slate tiles off homes and council cordoning off areas.I saw one tree down but fell onto the green rather road.Lots of branches and twigs under foot for half a mile.Called to Coop for things . Pantyffynnon which is a mile away from us has been without power for 16 hours and not due to be back till 6pm tonight!!
We got away with no damage at all so are pretty lucky.

Big G - don't you mean 'as good as Shades for trying to get people signed up to DD' . I know he loves that race, as I do. My dearest wish is to one day to be able to run it again.

That'll be great training doing chunks of the DD course, I'd be tempted to join you but I'm not up to the downhills (yet).

Good you're feeling strong with your running. You know the pace is the last element to slot into place when base training.

I've been getting similar events popping up on my FB feed too, haven't had that one though (thankfully)

WP - well done getting out for a run, you've had a much worse battering from Storm Darragh.

I did 8 miles and annoyingly schoolboy error. After all my faffing, checking chill factor etc., I was ideally clothed for my run, but I didn't notice it was going to be sunny and I had no shades. I had to turn back I couldn't cope with the sun any more. Quads sore for last two miles, post gym soreness again. £7.20 jacket is amazing in the wind and new gloves too.

When I got home I returned a recycling box that had appeared outside my bedroom window. Fortunately the owner had put their house number on it so I could return it to the right place

40 miles for the week

WP - my eyes are very sensitive to the sun, and the wind. I should have remembered to take some shades with me. Low strong sun here too..

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
