Good mileage there Shades.

WP, good news on no damage. We had a wooden cold frame that seems to have caught wind somehow and is now no longer usable, but other than that we seem okay.

10 miles today. Hilly again, and some trail. Had to clamber over a couple of fallen trees but felt safe out there as the wind had died down. 47 for the week and hoping for similar next week.

Big G - that's a great week's mileage from you this week.

I felt completely safe out there too, lots of small tree debris down but nothing serious and the wind didn't affect my pace.

I did notice that there aren't many leaves left on the trees.

WP - hope any damage is slight.

Big G - I see there was a 96mph gust recorded at Berry Head yesterday 😲

I nearly accepted a job there once

Good running from you Ian. Has that swelling gone down a bit now?

Shades, hadn’t seen that about Berry Head. It’s certainly pretty exposed over there! They’ve a really nice cafe there as well. Yes, feeling strong, I’m a reasonable weight but will hopefully lose another 2 or 3 pounds before Seville, foot is good, I’m enjoying the running, so things are in an okay place. If I can do 45ish next week I’ll be happy. The following two weeks I’ll have to play it by ear a bit as I’m staying with OH’s family. They all know I’ll be running, but I’ve no mileage target as such, although I guess if I can do at least 30 each week I’ll be pretty happy. And then I’ll see if I can get some regular 50+ miles in from New Year. That’s the plan, but we’ll see how it works out.

WP, hopefully nothing major with that tree.

Well done Ian. 6 months sounds OK and you won't need to do an extra 40 in training 😉

I went for a job at the hotel at Berry Head doing the accounts. Nice people and I was dead keen until I drove home from the interview. It wasn't the distance, 17 miles, that was the issue it was the time it took through Brixham etc in holiday season.

You'll soon deal with those couple of extra pounds once Christmas is over and the mileage is up a bit.

I'm hoping to get to 50mpw by the end of the year. Just hope we don't get any icy weather to scupper my plans.

Shades, yes, Brixham is an odd one as there’s only really one main road in and out. I like it there, but don’t think I could live there due to that.

Big G-Yes it's still a little swollen but a lot less than last week,BP is rising a bit though so need to keep an eye on that, might start with every other day on the old meds until I get my new meds.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
