Well done WP. I haven't done any exercise today.

I did consider going to the gym this afternoon as I was getting cabin fever from being cooped up. But after popping out just to put the rubbish out the weather was too scary for me and I didn't venture further than our enclosed courtyard.

Wind is supposed to drop by 20mph by the morning, hoping that'll be OK for me to run. Our Amber warning expires at 9 tonight, think it's yellow then for most of Sunday. I'm happy to run in 50mph winds.

That is all the exercise I did today.I had similar experience putting stuff in kitchen bin on driveway it was very scary outside.

It dipped and has picked up again by I think 9pm the red alert is over and Amber comes into play nope yellow for tomorrow and 50mph winds and I am also happy to run in that just not in cycle track with all the trees.

Wind seems to have got worse here too in the last hour. But dry now, I think you've got warnings of flooding now too.

There's nowhere round here without trees. I'm hoping that whatever trees are likely to blow down have done so already today.

I am not surprised with all the rain we have had! But dry tomorrow good job as OH has to get taxi to car and await RAC for car to be sorted out.

I found that a few days after storm more trees come down or start creaking,Just playing safe option so more than likely run pretty village route if RHR has dropped this morning +9 but could have been stress yesterday.

I think it's likely your raised RHR was the stress of rescuing Mr WP last night. That would raise anyone's HR.

The nearest park to me, a small town park, has some gigantic trees and they creak dreadfully in the wind.

We are on the west coast do got a bit of a battering but not quite as bad as you guys.
It was actually quiet when I left for work but horrible throughout the day, surprisingly we were only a little down on a usual Saturday.
I wouldn't run in 50mph winds, hate the treadmill but I'd jump on that instead, but we are down for 20mph so that will be OK for me if it stays like that.

It's gusts of 45-50 mph now, wind speed about 28 mph. We've got that all day. Not unusual for me to have those conditions, but usually accompanied by rain and mild temperatures. It's more likely the feels like temperature of 1 - 2 that will shorten my run today. Won't know until I get out there.

I could always drive to the gym and use the treadmill but I doubt I'd last 10 minutes. 99% of running is being outdoors to me.

I am having some porridge now as a bit of central heating 😋

WP - good about the RHR. Have a good run.

I'm testing out some hoarded winter kit today, my £7.20 red jacket and a pair of windproof gloves i bought last year for £3.50 (reduced from £35), I do like a bargain 😀

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
