I think it is difficult with old cars when is the time to cut your losses. Our Ruby was 13 years old but the electrics started to fail we spend 3 grand over 2 years on her and decided time was right. I still miss her compared to our new EV vehicle.
Ian Sorry to hear you having a difficult time. Hope the treatment helps for the time being.

Sorry to hear that Ian. I was wondering how you were getting on, and had presumed you were busy at work. I hope you manage to get it all under control soon.
Shades/WP, yeah, we’ve been having these discussions over the last couple of years with her car. In that time she has needed new front lights, and although it wasn’t required for MOT she had a new (second hand) fan heater installed as the last one wasn’t working so it wasn’t demissting the front screen. 2 years ago it was letting in water from somewhere, and that fried the electrics meaning the car wouldn’t start at all - never really got to the bottom of that but garage found the leak, fixed that, and then dried the car out and it started working again, but it’s been an issue that was a worry in wet weather, although it hasn’t happened again. It was one of those where she was glad of home start on her breakdown, as they came and took it to the garage. I think she’s coming to the conclusion it’s the right time to get rid. It’s a shame as it’s a nice car and it drives well - Renault Megane Estaste - and at the time it would have been top of the range with panoramic roof, heated seats, cruise control, fold in mirrors etc. It’s still really nice to drive, it’s comfortable, goes well etc. Danger of course is she gets a new (second hand) car and has all sorts of trouble with it, but yes I think she’s in the market for a new car.

Big G It sounds so similar to ours but ours was a Citroën Picasso and such a large boot as it would seat 8.Handy with wheelchair etc.
Good luck with shopping for new car!

WP - I agree it's difficult to decide when a car has to go.
Big G - sometimes once something starts to go there's a chain reaction even though a mechanic will say 'just one of those things'. When I ordered my first ever brand new car I had to wait 3 months for delivery. I was trading in my Fiesta which was in good condition and about 5 years old. In the time I was waiting for my new car, the steering lock went on the Fiesta, then the driver's door lock and had a problem with the brake lights. So I ended up paying out quite a bit as all needed to be fixed to be driveable.
Well that solves what to buy OH for Christmas 🤣
6 miles this morning, very cold wind. Gym later, leg/glutes today.
Tomorrow is a rest day. Just as well as we have Storm Darragh heading our way, amber warning for wind. I see lots of events and races already cancelled for the weekend down here. Should be over the worse by Sunday morning.

Came up to Haldon this morning, after dropping OH off at work. Had planned to do 2 loops of the race loop, but after most of the loop realised it’s not a great loop for me. It uses a couple of paths that I purposefully avoid, as they’re very gloopy this time of year. So Shades, on that basis, best not put me on the list for the race at this point - I’ll decide nearer the time.
So I did most of the race loop and then went on to do 2 of my regular training loops for just under 11 miles, and included 3 times up the 1-mile long hill.
Again considered going around again, so I think soon I’ll set out with the intention of doing 4 laps and then I’m more likely to do it, rather than deciding during the run.

WP - good to hear the legs were a bit more willing today. Did you thrash your legs at PT this week and then the hilly walk home was the final straw?
Hope OH enjoyed his trip to Devon.
Big G - oh that's a shame the route is not to your liking at Haldon. It's too late, I've already put it on the list but won't be posting the list for 3 weeks or so, I'll check with you first. We've had a lot of rain so a good dry spell might dry the paths out.
Re laps, I too must decide before how many laps, otherwise I can talk myself out of that extra lap so easily. Today I was doing laps of the housing estate, I usually do 4 but wanted a little extra mileage so before I left home the plan was for 5 laps and I did them without that shall I/shan't I conversation with myself.
Gym done, legs and glutes today.

We've now got a red warning for wind from 3 a.m. Saturday morning.
No run planned tomorrow but was hoping to do my food shop at Tesco early. Might assess the weather first 🤔

WP - rest day for you tomorrow i think. Storm Darragh looks much worse for you in Wales than us down here.
I've just seen the red warning on the news and it doesn't reach as far as here although on that useless BBC app it says it does. Still going to be an Amber warning for us though. You have a red warning now.😱
I'm intending to go to Tesco at 6 am. I have a voucher £12 if I spend £80. I'll struggle to spend that on food so may well top up the bill with something to wear.
Well at least OH may sleep through the storm 😴
