I didn’t know, but Worcester has what they call a Swan Sanctuary. The birds are free to come and go as they’re wild birds, and this is an open space on the river. But they seem to quite like it there, which is just a 5min walk from the city centre (on the first pic, that’s the cathedral in the background). I picked up a leaflet about it for OH to read (an animal lover, obviously, being a vet) and she found it interesting and suggested she’d have rather been there than at her conference.

Lovely pics, Big G. I didn't know that about Worcester either. Only swannery I know of is Abbotsbury in Dorset.
Sounds like you had a more enjoyable day than your OH.

That is a lovely photo of the swans.
Shades Your run sounded nice with the Christmas lights. Sounds like a good week mileage wise.
I ran 4+ miles in the rain very slow but picked up on last mile.

A bit of a nightmare today as OH’s car broke down going to work, on the new dual carriageway. It must be some safety feature as none of the pedals will depress any more. I think the police must have noticed her on the cameras as she was in a dangerous location and they came out, parked behind her with lights flashing, and put cones out until the breakdown came. She got the car towed to our local garage and she’s taken my car to work, where she’ll be 2hrs late.

WP - you feeling better now?
Big G - nightmare for your OH. Good the police were there so promptly. Hope it's not too expensive a repair.

Just had an email from Seville, regarding a place off the waiting list!
I think OH is getting towards the end of her tether with the car. It’s 16 years old and a couple of things have started going wrong with it. Looks like a new clutch and flywheel this time, which garage has warned will be in region of £1K, but will confirm later. Funny as we used the car yesterday for basically 6hrs of driving and all was fine. She said she felt like a rapper in one of those music videos, where the cars bounce, as that’s what hers was doing before it stalled.

WP - hope you'll be back to full power in those legs tomorrow.
Big G - you were expecting a transfer place even though you've already got a place.
It's a dilemma with older cars, when to trade it in or continue to keep it on the road. The price of second hand cars has shot up considerably since the pandemic. Perhaps ask for the garage's opinion if you know and trust them.
My car is 11 years old, my garage told me not to consider changing it. The mileage is very low. Because of the pandemic and then my, what will be 2 years in between marathons and despite being injured, my running mileage is higher than my car mileage 🤣

Health problems have slowed me down again the last few weeks. Had a hospital appt about my shoulder and the consultant was talking about surgery,we managed to negotiate for different physio and review in 3 months.I really don't want it as it will keep me restricted for 6 months. And the last couple of weeks my lower legs have been swelling massively during the day,I couldn't even see my ankle bone.I checked and it looks like my BP meds,so went the docs and he wants to change them, unfortunately the hospital has had a cyber attack so can't do the bloods I need before changing meds as this 1 can affect the kidneys, hopefully getting them done next week,in the meantime I've stopped taking the meds and monitoring my BP daily. Anyway running wise, not done a great deal,I did 10 yesterday and 7 in the pouring rain today. Good to read everyone seems to be cracking on,I have a place in Valencia for next year, apparently I put myself on the wait list at some point so get a priority entry, just deciding whether to enter or not.

Ian - so sorry to hear you're having problems re your BP meds, hope that is sorted soon, the delay must be so frustrating especially as due to a hacking incident.
Good you've managed to negotiate non surgical treatment for the shoulder, at least for now.
