Oh yes I am just back six miles today and it feels I have more flexibility with it today especially running up a little incline not stiff and unweilding. No compression socks or tape today .

No rain here as yet but looks like we have the worst of it tomorrow as well.

I think we have had a 7 day dry spell :-)

WP - good news on the 6 miles.

We haven't had rain for a while, my car is dusty. So having said that there's likely to be a monsoon tomorrow.

A really decent turnout of Trotters today at parkrun for the couple getting married. The event had advertised it as well and knew it would likely be busy, and it looks like it as the 2nd highest turnout, tired only with Xmas Eve 2016.

Crikey, it’s a tough course though (it used to be my local). Put some effort in and slowed a lot at the finish, managing 25:04.

How are you feeling now, Shades?

I've heard Parke is tough, Big G - not surprising though as you have a lot of hills down there.

I went to Didcot today (lived there briefly in the early 90s...the parkrun park and surrounding estate weren't built then), mostly as it was close to the station. Cocked up the course. It's laps of a park then a long path elsewhere, and I got to the finish half a mile early and figured I must've missed a lap (was chatting to someone). I ended up running back up the path to add another half mile but I feel very silly.

Hip's not really changing.

Cal - I'm feeling much better thanks. RHR normal today and I've been able to do some housework today without it wiping me out.

I'm hoping to get out tomorrow morning for a couple of miles.

Annoying about your hip but I guess you're sort of getting used to it.

WP - Nice 6

Shades - Good news on the HR

Cal - That’s an unfortunate balls up.

Big G - Any peep from your foot?

A last 20 min taper tempo workout yesterday which felt too hard for my liking. Especially when compared to the equivalent before Berlin last year. I’ve felt like I’ve been regressing since coming back from Hols a month ago. Not sure if I’ve overtrained, peaked too early or maybe all that treadmill running was no good. Hopefully just taper crazies. 5 miles easy earlier today.

Rcouture, you could just be tired. You'll be fine on race day.

Shades - it's worst at night. I wake up loads and there are no truly comfortable positions. My Garmin keeps telling me I need to sleep 9 hours to make up for it. 🤣

Rcouture - sounds like a standard case of taper fever to me. 😧 I just looked at Berlin weather for next weekend and looks good, a bit of a breeze but much cooler than of late which should make for good marathon conditions.

Cal - my back is worse at night too, if I'm restless it sets it off and then no comfortable sleeping position for me either for the rest of the night. It's best if I lie on my back which isn't really my preference but I'm trying to train myself.

RHR normal again today, but my head feels stuffed with cold so no run. I might go for a walk later. Was expecting heavy rain but no rain yet, or all day yesterday, I think it will start soon but I quite enjoy a walk in the rain.

Cal;Hope the hip settles down and you get some sleep.

Rcouture: Not long to go and sounds like a good 20 miler. But is this a little close to marathon to have run the last 20? aha 20 minute tempo not 20 miles :-)

Shades:Sounds like a good plan to have a nice walk.Hopefully the head will clear soon. How are you feeling?

We had heavy rain yesterday but for a few hours and the heavy rain starts here at around 10am.
Achilles is a little sore so just a short run today.

WP - that achilles is so unpredictable.

I just feel like I have a cold, still have no sense of smell and a bit tired today. Taste is fine though 😋 and I'm eating well.

It's finally started raining here now.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
