WP - no, haven't been out and don't feel like going out either.

Not feeling that great. I'm eating well though 😋

Big G - that good about the Hokas. Once they in the training stock you should get high mileage out of them, I've had over 700 miles from Hokas.

And maybe next year you'll be ready to race in your plated shoes again.

Big G - forget what I said about the Hokas mileage. Just Googled your shoes and they are low mileage, that's unusual for Hokas generally.

It must be like they are laughing at you.Are these the new shoes?

It is a little painful but hopeful of a run I have pencilled in 6 miles for today.I forgot to say I bought a second pair of Wave Rider.so I have lurid yellow and mauve shoes :) I wore them with laces in and too rigid I needed to get my elastic laces in as they can be loose on my Achilles foot.

WP - Good you're stocking up on the shoes. I have elastic laces in about half of my training shoes and always my shoes for races.

No, not my new shoes. These are my Scott shoes, which I love, a bargain at £40

They look a good shoe and at a bargain price :-)

I will stock up on them as they suit me at the moment.

6.6 miles this morning not as much flexibilty up the inclines but not bad.It takes till half way for it to warm up the Achilles.

WP - two major complaints in the reviews for the Scott shoes. One is the laces, they look great in the pic but they are truly awful, I couldn't use them at all. Problem solved with elastic laces. Secondly lots of complaints about discomfort to the arch of the foot, not a problem for me as I have high arches.
I knew about these review issues before buying them.

That's another good run from you today.

Now the bad/sad news. There will be no Windermere marathon next year.

The race isn't cost effective for them.

However, 10 in 10 will still be held every year so if you want to run this amazing course that's your only option.

Had an email last night but were asked not to share the news until 10am today.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
