Maybe Runthrough will pick it up - they have picked up a lot of races. Considering they were a small company that just did runs in London parks, they've grown huge.

There is also one based out of Kirkbride airfield as Ian knows as we both ran that one. I have some recollection one year one of them was same day as Windermere.

Both do half options too and Kirkbride i think also does a 10k.

Both flatish and fast wind dependant

Cal - no chance of RunThrough picking up Windermere, they don't hold races on roads do they? some of the course is run on narrow roads requiring traffic control/closures. Without a new race venue it would be unlikely, the current venue is the charity's house and grounds.

Keith - I so want to run that one, but such a long drive from here, 6 hours each way and that's on clear roads. It's still on my wish list though.

Ian - I was thinking it was that airfield marathon that you did one year.

This is the other Solway marathon then?

Really nice review here of the marathon that goes from the airfield ultraboyruns.com which is hosted by a superb small local race organiser. Several Fetchies have done it.

Two laps from Anthorn sounds quite appealing too. I seem to remember that event and the accompanying half getting spanked in the reviews for poor organisation this year, but I can't find the reviews so I could be making that up.

But as you say, a long way away from almost everywhere.

Shades-The airfield one I did was in Yorkshire somewhere, never to be repeated.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
