Didn't think we'd have a tracker but we do.

Thanks Big G-She isn't as confident as she should be,she has had a great block, with lots of faster stuff, not as many 20s as usual but lots of good training, interesting to see how she goes.

Shades great news you’re back out running.

Big G well done on another 10 miles

Ian and Keith good luck with your races

WP wise decision not to run before PT if it’s a normal gym session can understand but with a PT is it best to be fresher?

Cal I was wondering if RT or ATW would pick it up, ATW seem to be Home Counties based and Nottingham, they have some road races but wouldn’t have a local base of marshals or staff the can call on.

8.5 miles for me this evening, felt a bit of a drag! Longest run since marathon in July and even had to run past my start and add a couple of miles.

Had notice from my gym they are putting up their price from £30 to £40. I’ve cancelled it as hardly use it.

Keith - we can wait. It's not so bad doing a race without a tracker. My friend is doing Morecambe, pretty sure no tracking there either.

Rob - I'm back out there, and loving it. But I wouldn't call it running yet, doing run/walk with a big smile on my face, even in the rain today.

Well done on your long run, very disciplined to add on extra especially midweek.

That's a hefty price increase of your gym membership, unless you're going 3 times a week not worth it.

I'm fortunate my leisure club membership fee is fixed and doesn't increase, as long as I don't leave. Not sure when I'll get back to the gym, might do 30 minutes at the weekend.

3.69 miles today in the rain, but mild and rain wasn't a problem. Went out to do laps of a very quiet housing estate, about a mile to get there. The top road of the estate the streetlights were on, this is the posh bit, his and hers Mercs, Audis and Teslas. But when I dropped down to the big loop the streetlights weren't on and I thought they'd come on but they didn't but I could just see where I was going. No traffic so I can safely use the middle of the road. I did see a fox. Most enjoyable plod.

Shades it’s all running even if it’s run walk. Thinking of my last 50 miler there wasn’t much running in the last 33 miles but I still call it running.

I was expecting a jump in the cost of my gym as they had a refurb, they gym is much nicer but the main difference is there is a soft play centre and cafe neither which I use. If I was allowed to use the soft play area I might have stayed.

main use for the membership is somewhere to dump my stuff after work and shower after. The extra cost has given me the push to cancel, will just change in the loos at work and go home sweaty

Rob : That is a lot of money and a big jump in cost.Fancy not letting you in the soft play area!
OH membership went up but by £2 a month to £34 and he cancelled as he was not using it,

Shades: It is great news you are back out and loving being out again.

I was short of time due to surgery appointment so up and out and 4.55 miles run in the rain. Not a pleasant route due to traffic but needed to be flatter.Going to aim for 6-8 miles tomorrow.
I could feel PT session in legs today :)

Rob - I agree, use of the soft play area might have clinched the deal, spoilsports. Too expensive now just for the convenient use of the lockers and showers.

We've had a gym refurb last year and a very expensive one. Only two of the original machines remained, everything else is brand new even the benches and dumbbells.

WP - still a good run before your appointment. Hope the longer run goes well tomorrow.

7 yesterday. Quite windy and the rain came in about 2 miles from home, but I had a decent run out.

7 today on the flat. When I woke up it was heavy rain, but by the time I got myself sorted it had stopped so that was lucky! Quite windy in parts, and rain started half way through, but I always prefer starting a run in the dry if possible! Had another good run out.

We’re away this weekend, going back to Ross on Wye, which we went to before dad died, but we cut it short and travelled home that weekend. We’re going back to have more of a look around, and I am hoping to do a different parkrun compared to what I did last time. Weather is bad at the moment but doesn’t look too bad tomorrow and Saturday. We’re in the van and have the tablet loaded up with films etc, just in case it’s a wash out. Probable rest day tomorrow, and currently on 35 miles so parkrun will take it to 38 and if I can get out one more time over the weekend that will nudge me over 40, and if that happens I’ll be quite happy. I enjoyed the down week last week but feel I’m back to it now.

Big G - a good training week for you and if you can get some miles done in the Herefordshire countryside all the better. I used to do Hereford marathon for several years and a lovely part of the country.

Technically you'd know sooner than my return as my garmin data auto imports to Fetch as well as strava and i'd sort that before heading for home via Tebay.

Yes i'll detour via Tebay to get something for dinner. Off on holiday Tuesday via overnight stop Newcastle Airport Monday so not aiming to have loads of food in and frozen stuff would take too long and i dont always go for the pizza delivery option ;)

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
