Big G - still a good week's mileage for you.

Is Seville the annual Trotters marathon trip for 2025?

Annoying you can't fly from Bristol any more. Longer airport drive in winter weather not so appealing.

I've been a bit down about running the last couple of weeks, hence the lack of posts,so I've decided to do a club relay race and see if it shakes me up a bit.It doesn't start until 2.30 and is only 5k,so hardly marathon training but I'm sort of resigned to just having an enjoyable run at HCA now.

Ian - don't write yourself off at this stage. Unfortunately, no matter how well the preparation sometimes our bodies just don't follow the rules, we're all human.

Hope the relay goes well and you enjoy it.

Shades, Copenhagen is the Trotters trip, which I’m in for. Seville isn’t the ‘official’ one, but a few are going. OH would like to go to Seville as she’s not been (I went on my own when I did it).

Ian, sounds like a bit of loss of mojo. Hopefully the 5K will get the juices flowing a bit!

Big G - sorry, I'd forgotten about Copenhagen.

Which airport would you have to use for Seville this time?

It would be from Gatwick, Shades. I’ll have a look later today or tomorrow and if too expensive I’ll give it a miss. Just interesting that 2 separate groups that I know are going.

Had a day in Saint Ives today, which was very nice, and just stopped off for some food shopping in Saltash, so an hour from home.

Big G - Gatwick isn't that pleasant a drive. Often tricky trying to find flights out of season from provincial airports.

Big G-It has definitely been a big loss of mojo, hopefully come back soon enough
Good day today overall,it was a hard course, few hills,a lot of dead turns, not the smoothest surface and quite heavy rain.
Finished in 20:25,a lot of the guys did a 5km last week and all were 30-60 secs slower today so suggests I'm in sub 20 shape which I didn't really expect.

Ian - well done. I hope that's given you a boost and more optimism about HCA.

Ian - Nice one Ian, hopefully that gives you a boost

Big G - Seville is your PB race if I recall? Miles building up nicely

Shades/WP - Hope you kick the little niggles

22 miles including 8 at MP this afternoon. MP came out at 3:01 pace and the right HR in low 20s temps so gotta be happy with that. It felt a hell of a lot harder than my 20 with 5 at MP a few weeks back but I’ve felt battered all week so I’ll take it. A mix of peak week at 64miles, a mild bug and a crazy busy life week. Still some hard work to do but that’s the last big one. Time to start obsessing about the forecast.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
