WP - Had to google a red kite which is shameful of me. Hope the niggles treat you better

Shades - Good luck with the new shoes. I’ve ordered a new pair of nimbus and endorphin speed 4s so that’s my shoe budget done for a while.

8 miles into the office this morning and yesterday.
Dropped the girls for their first day at school this morning and I’ve been in the office this week for the first time in 6 months so routines are starting again.

Shades: You are lucky to see a buzzard we don't have any here.

Rcouture:Nice shoe shopping .It must be the time of year to buy a few pairs :)
Sounds like it is good to get back to a routine for you and the girls.
Google is handy when unsure of a bird/animal.

Used my massage gun on hip and turned matress incase it was that as could feel hip in bed.

Rcouture - you'll know to look out for a red kite next time you're in Wales. Their forked tail is quite distinctive.

Hope the girls don't pick up and share any bugs/viruses with you so close to Berlin.

Must feel a little strange to be back in the office.

You've had the Endorphin Speeds before I think.

WP - the buzzards are very common here, but never seen two together. I often see them hunting for breakfast when I'm out running.

Hope that sorts the hip.

Rcouture-I thought that was a really well paced run on Sunday, looking good.
Big G-Glad everything went as well as it could last week.
Shades/WP-Hope you get back running properly again soon.
I've had a bit of a crappy week, hectic in work and running has fell off a cliff, slowed a lot in the last couple of weeks for some reason for the same effort.
After my MRI came back I've had to go and get a lot of bloods done, had them this morning so will see what comes back from it,in a way hoping something does to explain how I'm feeling.
Also my leg was sore so for my days off I've headed to Wirral Way as it's a lot softer surface, more gravel and crushed stone than concrete and that seemed better, did 20 there Sunday and 14 today.I can't do it on work days though as it adds an extra 45 mins which I don't have at the minute.

Ian - sorry to hear you've been struggling recently energy wise. You've still managed some decent long runs though.

Hope there's a reason that is easily resolved.

You don't think you maybe had Covid or another virus with minimal symptoms and are suffering from post viral syndrome.

What's the treatment plan now for your shoulder?

My friend ran Garstang and knocked 11 minutes off her time last year!

Shades-Your friend done well, that's big drop.
I could I suppose, hard to say as no real symptoms of anything apart from being a bit more tired than usual.
As for the shoulder I am seeing a consultant on the 18th and go from there.

There are loads of red kites NW of London - saw a pair of them over Aylesbury parkrun the other week but I've seen quite a lot travelling along roads in that direction.

5+ miles today, much fresher and cooler. Heavy rain forecast for the next couple of days and the rain started when I was at the furthest point of my run, big heavy drops. But even at my pace I was able to out run it and dry for the rest of my run. 🤣

Gym later, time dependent on shoe delivery

Ian, it’s good to get these things checked out, and then you work out what to do (if anything) and go from there. I remember after Claire died I was sleeping well (I thought), but was absolutely knackered all the time, for a few months. I got bloods done at the time, and they were all normal.

Shades, it was a frustrating forecast as the apps were showing heavy rain, but actually I stayed dry for my run. 10 miles today - 1 mile jog down, 8 on the flat on a 1-mile loop, and then 1 back up to home. Quite a strong blustery wind on the seafront, but I had a decent run out.

I didn’t run yesterday but did a hard race on Zwift. Oooph.

Big G - it's raining here now, not heavy yet.

Have you done a MAF test recently? Or was that what you were doing today.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
