Enjoy shoe shopping in Manchester. I can get train to Manchester just takes 3 hours I think.

Cardiff used to have two good runni ng shops but one folded Run and become bought my first ever runni ng shoes from them.
Will do some research and may go next month if I can get help with OH.

I won a pair of Brooks ghosts I hated them too rigid a shoe for me.

Keith - I take a 7, most popular women's size but Start Fitness have my size at that price.

WP - Cardiff must have a few department stores too. I bought a bargain pair of Novablasts in a posh department store in Cork.

No running shop in my town but we do have a department store and they sell running shoes, they even sell On brand.

We do have a Sports Direct here but hard to find running shoes in there, although I've bought online from them.

My problem due to flat feet I need a 8.5 so not a popular size.

Mizuno do a 12mm drop but need to try them on.
More research needed.

I’ve got my NYC ‘race shoes’ that arrived in the post today. I’ve gone for a new pair of Hoka Mach 6s, as my current 5s are my most comfortable shoes at the moment. I was going to go with the Nike Peg 40s but I prefer the Hokas for longer runs. I do have Vaporflys here but a) I’m not in race shape, so don’t want to wear them in case I resort to walking and b) I’m wary of plated shoes still, with my foot as it is.

WP - I've had a few pairs of Mizunos in the past, only have one at the moment (Skyrise).
Mizuno are good shoes, well made, high mileage. I've found them to be quite roomy and have been able to go down a half size in them so you might find you can drop to an 8. They are the only brand I've ever gone down in size.

Hope you can find a stockist.

Big G - good you've taken so well to the Hokas.

I have run in mizuno many moons ago maybe 20. Start fitness have them wave rider so thinking to buy some will try an 8 can always send back is too small.
Worth trying out.

Thanks.

WP - Wave Rider are good high mileage shoes. Maybe trawl through the reviews to see if there are any comments on sizing.

4 miles today and I have my legs back, DOMS gone and more importantly treacle leg syndrome has gone. However, not so good with HR and lungs, that's still in post Covid mode. So I did ILTHR intervals so I could stretch my legs a bit. Most enjoyable run.
Strange weather, very windy but humid.

Gym later.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
