OO61 - I've now started having a couple of glasses of water each day - my partner Margaret is happy! Impressive mileage for the year.
HS - good to hear the capsules may be working, so hope it's good news when you see the doctor again on Dec 19th. I forgot to say I made the wrong choice from the Beefeater daytime menu - I had a flatbread chicken sandwich and didn't like the flatbread at all - just found it tasteless. I'll pick something else next time! I can well imagine the difference between running INTO the wind and WITH it Stop making me jealous with your chilli, chips AND rice .. thinking about that flatbread again That quickest run on the route was obviously due to you wearing the new shoes.
Aquarius - I don't even get anywhere near 600mls for the year. My walking mileage will probably be nearer to 300 after the various foot problems that have stopped any regular walking this year. I don't blame you for postponing your run until the weather improved.
I started taking the gout medication on Saturday. The doctor warned that when starting the pills, they might bring on an attack of gout but thankfully, no sign of that yet.
I walked into town this morning to the running shop and got myself another pair of Saucony Guide 17. I already have two pairs - one for my morning walks and a black pair to wear when I'm going out and 'some' walking is needed (more comfortable than my black leather shoes). But I've bought this latest pair to wear around the house, to protect my feet. So in essence, a very expensive pair of slippers
Here's the tree damage I mentioned ..
Rose decided to cancel our u3a coffee and chat walk this morning, in case any trees had come down in Pittville Park over the weekend. There was just the one tree where a large branch had come down and although it fell onto one of the paths, you could sill manouvere around it.

WtnMel, It's good that you are now drinking more glasses of water, but it doesn't seem enough to me. I probably drink about 7 glasses per day.
Thank's, I'm keeping my fingers crossed re the improvement to my indigestion.
I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your flatbread chicken sandwich. My sister and I were lucky with our chili, chips and rice.
I hope that the gout medication helps to do the trick!
I see that you have purchased another pair of Saucony Guide 17 to wear indoors.
An impressive picture of the fallen tree.
That was probably a wise decision to cancel yesterdays u3a coffee and chat walk, in case of more fallen trees.
This morning was my usual Tuesday Farmers Walk. It was very cold, but I'm sure feeling the cold is a sign of old age!

Hillstrider - we went to Croome (NT) this morning for a walk around the grounds. I bought our lunch while Margaret went to nab a table. When I arrived with the food, there was a glass of water waiting for me To be honest, I'm struggling to fit in the two glasses of water each day without endless trips to the loo! I already have 4 or 5 cups of tea/coffee each day - maybe you have water instead of tea or coffee? Well done re the Farmer's Walk. I'm sure I feel the cold more than I used to - having said that, I think I've probably been wearing stuff suitable for Autumn, which doesn't help!
I popped round to see my neighbour about the fence. He says his brother is supposed to be coming round to take a look and the fencing company who originally put the fence up are supposed to be giving him a quote to mend it. I offered my help again to fix the fence if the quote is too high.
Our neighbour had some people round two weeks ago - they were trying to persuade him he needed his gutters/roof fixing. He wasn't convinced and when he spoke to his brother, his advice was to tell them to sling their hook. Interestingly, they popped round to see me while they were outside and suggested the tiles near our gutter weren't sitting right and some internal boards underneath had slipped down a bit. I wasn't convinced and rightly so - when they spoke to my neighbour they told him his tiles didn't look right and pointed to mine (with the boards just showing) and said that's what his should look like!

WtnMel, that's a bit of a coincidence to find a glass of water on your table with your lunch in Croome.
I drink two cups of tea, two mugs of coffee, and one mug of Horlicks.
I think that I should wear thicker jumpers now. I can't believe it, seeing school kids wearing short sleeve shirts. I suppose when we were younger, we didn't feel the cold.
I've had quite a few "cowboys" telling me that things needed doing. A couple of examples "we've come to dig your hedge up, because the roots are growing under the road, and you will be responsible for the damage'" another was a man that wanted to power wash the short path from the road to my front door. He quoted £150. They prey on the elderly as "easy meat!"
I ran a solo 10k on roads yesterday and it was very cold. I didn't run today, but went into the village to purchase next year's short stay parking clock. It's gone up to £45 now.
My gas smart meter has started playing up. It comes on saying "connecting to smart meter" and after a few minutes shuts down. Now and again, it comes on again and stays on for about 10 minutes, and then shuts down again. I think that I will wait until tomorrow, and if it's still happening will report it.

I used my new footpump this afternoon. What a difference! Really effective and easy to use. All my tyre pressures were way down, so just as well I topped them up, as I have the MoT in a week or so.

Wtnmel those builders prey on older people. The plain truth is that good tradesmen don't need to tout for work they are always busy and you have to chase them. Your roof will tell you when there is a problem. Then get a reputable tradesman to look at it. I'm surveyor know this. My supplier is always offering me a smart meter hillstrider. I heard so many people having issues though, I've been reluctant to agree. My Car has sensors in the tyres which tell me when my tyre needs air. I have a footpump too but I find it a bit stressful after inflating when I remove the valve and air escapes.

Hillstrider - yes, it was the smirk on Margaret's face when I noticed the glass of water she had got me that amused me I presume I didn't feel the cold as much in the past - I certainly do now. Well done re the solo 10k. It does sound like you need to keep an eye on your smart (not so smart?) meter - possibly also check the actual reading on the meter outside to make sure it's recording the right values? Glad to hear the new foot pump was far more effective and easy to use .. I think we just get used to how things are, not realising they've become less efficient.
OO61 - I'm just glad my neighbour has his brother to rely on to stop him being scammed. Must admit, my gut reaction when they knocked on my door to alert me to my 'problem' was .. "Oh, hello Mr Scammer". I don't blame you for not rushing to get a smart meter - it's not exactly a chore to go out and check the meter every few months is it? We only ended up with one because Margaret decided to get one (possibly in a weak moment) I have an app on my phone which amongst other things, tells me the tyre pressures. I'm the same btw - when I've pumped up the tyre, there's always that moment of stress when you go to remove the pump as quickly as possible and if you aren't quick enough or it gets a bit stuck, all that air you've expended energy putting into the tyre, starts escaping.

HS I'm impressed by your 7 glasses of water a day. Apart from a bottle of water after runs I drink very little otherwise I'm afraid. I usually have a couple of cups of decaf coffee a day, the rest of my drinks being tea. I usually drink English Breakfast but I might also have green tea (an acquired taste), and perhaps a cup of peppermint or fennel in the evening (good for digestion). I'm also partial to glass of wine while preparing the evening meal I agree about feeling the cold more as we get older, from time to time I come across someone who's still walking around in shorts even though it's December. Mad or macho? I can't decide.
WtnMel Lucky no-one was under that tree when it came down. When you think of the extensive root systems trees have it's quite shocking that a strong wind can bring them down. We have gas and electric smart meters with an IHD (In Home Display) unit, which does tend to lose wifi connection from time to time, however the half hourly readings still get sent from the actual meters to the supplier. I think the display unit is really just to give you an idea of how much energy you are using.
How's the gout medication going?
I haven't run since Monday, partly because I've been busy with other things, but also my cold is still hanging about (mainly sneezing and coughing) so tomorrow's XC will have to be a slow one as will Sunday's 5k trail race. If anyone knows any surefire cold cures please feel free to share them.

Sorry to hear you are still poorly Aquarius. I'm also debating whether to do the XC. I like the course but with my dodgy knee I'm not sure it will go well. So I'll see how parkrun goes. I may jog with my wife and if the knee feels OK give the XC a go after. So might see you there....
