Afternoon all, I'm not going to try to catch up with all the posts I've missed except to say I tried the link to the podcast you took part in 0061 but couldn't get it to work. However I've found it on Amazon music so will listen to it soon.
We got back from London a couple of days ago and are still catching up with things. This was our first time back there since Covid and I was surprised at how busy everywhere was (even though we kept away from anywhere even slightly Christmas related). I hadn't realised it was still necessary to book a time slot at places which didn't change an entry fee (admittedly I had seen this message on various webpages but assumed it just hadn't been updated since Covid restrictions were lifted). As a result we couldn't get into the National Gallery (the non-ticket holder queue was right down the street and not moving at all) and because we hadn't booked a time slot the British Museum made us walk around the block to use the back entrance, even though it wasn't particularly busy inside and, as with the NG, no-one was even in the "booked time slot" queue. So I made a point of booking a free entry timed slot at the RAF museum at Hendon, but when we got there we were waved through without anyone looking at our tickets! To add insult to injury we nearly didn't get to the RAF museum at all - an announcement was made as we pulled in to the station before ours to say the tube wouldn't be stopping at the next station, so we had to get off there and had a long walk in the wind and rain (and of course do the same thing going back). Now we're both full of cold. We only managed one run while down there, a 4 mile one that included part of a parkrun route which we used to do in the past. Tonight we're going over to the coast for the next Grand Prix club run, so I'm hoping the rain holds off.

Hillstrider - I can't remember when I bought my foot pump, it's been so many years. If it does conk out, I've had my money's worth. My left foot is still achey today (see below). Well done re the 7ml run with Sarah F & Mike. I've had similar problems with the sun blinding me on early-morning walks. I was wearing a woolly hat but a baseball cap with a peak would have been a better option.
OO61 - oh hear, sorry to hear about the horrible conditions for your 10ml run.
Aquarius - welcome back. Must confess, I've not kept up with museum entry conditions and would also have been tripped up by the need to pick a time slot. Sorry to hear about the tube problems, the long walk in the wind and rain and the fact you've both now got a cold lurgy. I saw on GC you'd managed a run while you were away - and good luck weather-wise with tonight's planned GP club run.
As mentioned above to Hillstrider, my left foot is playing up again. I said I'd been 'living' in my 'rocker' trainers or wearing my walking boots or leather shoes. But I made the mistake of wearing some old running shoes while I was washing the car on Saturday. I'm fairly sure that is the cause - and I intend to throw away the non-rocker trainers to stop me being tempted to wear them. I was able to walk to and from the restaurant yesterday for our anniversary meal without too much of a problem, but it's a bit worse today.
But aches or not, the foot isn't swollen so I can still get my leather shoes on and that meant we could do a flying visit this morning to see Margaret's son. We had some birthday presents and a cake which we were going to deliver two weeks ago but he and his family were unwell. We also took with us some plates our granddaughters painted when they visited us earlier this year (at 'Paint It Yourself Pottery') - they did come and see us not so long ago, but between us, we all managed to forget about them. Anyway, the girls and their plates have finally been reunited Margaret son was WFH today and it really was a flying visit - it tied in with his coffee break and we were in and out of the house within 15 minutes.

Welcome back Aquarius!
It's years since I last visited a museum, but when my children were young, I often took them to London to walk round museums. No charges in those days.
Sorry to hear about the tube problem. What a pain having to walk both ways in the wind and rain, resulting in you both getting colds.
Good that you managed a 4 miles run, and fingers crossed that the rain holds off for the club's Grand Prix run.
WtnMel, I'm sorry to hear that your left foot is still achey, which you believe was caused by wearing old running shoes whilst washing the car.
Good that you were able to make a flying visit to Margaret's son with some birthday presents and a cake 🎂
I've just walked to the post box to post my daughter's birthday card.

Had an interesting text message from my GP earlier on. Based on the blood sample I gave a few days ago, the doctor says it looks quite likely my sore toe could be due to gout. The sore toe was from a few months back and presumably the ongoing problems with my feet, could be due to gout as well? Anyway, I need to phone and arrange a routine call to discuss medication - and presumably, lifestyle advice as well on what to cut down on in my diet that could be aggravating the situation?

Sorry to hear about the suspected gout Wtnmel, that would explain it. Hope you don't have to give up much. Hope you are back running soon hillstrider. Your queues in London are disappointing Aquarius, hope it didn't spoil your trip. We usually rely on our London based daughter to book slots or tickets. Hope you enjoyed the GP my wife was a marshall at the dome and said it was cold. Ran and swam today so a bit exhausted.

WtnMel, that's a blow being advised that your sore toe could be due to gout. It will be interesting to see what recommendations will come out from your phone conversation.
0061, I haven't been away from running. Tuesday is a usual rest day.
Well done for yesterday's run and swim.
This morning was a 10k run with Sarah F and Mike, including 4 x hill pyramids.
