My left foot is still not 100% but it was okay enough to take Margaret for a walk around Croome. Even getting there when they opened at 10am, it was still too hot. We were glad to get back to the visitor centre and sit in the shade while we had a coffee and then lunch.

Wtnmel take care, sorry to hear about the sore foot. It's been hot up North too, but I'll not dare to complain.
We are off to Florence for a long weekend where it's forecast to reach 36 degrees most days. We're doing a parkrun which could get sticky.

WtnMel, sorry that your left foot is still not 100%, but good that you were still able to walk with Margaret around Croome.

0061, enjoy your long weekend in Florence, and good luck with the parkrun.

I decided on a running rest day today, but went for a brisk walk instead. Average pace 16.21 min/mil max 14.01.

OO61 - enjoy your long weekend in Florence.

Hillstrider - well done re the brisk walk. My left foot seems to be better but yesterday and today, the right foot has been a bit sore. I expect that's due to my 'favouring' my right foot while I was trying not to put too much weight on the left one! Ho Hum ..

Obviously, no brisk walking for me at the moment and I had to cancel today's planned golf with Alan. We'll try again on Aug 16th (I'm off to see my Mum next Thu, so won't be around next Fri).

As I couldn't manage any exercise today, I decluttered my shirts earlier on. I had quite a few in the wardrobe from when I was working, but hardly ever wear them these days. So I was a bit ruthless and found some that I decided I no longer want or which don't fit properly. Anyway - job done and I now have half the number of shirts, all of which actually fit! The surplus ones are in a bag ready to be taken to the clothes recycling (along with a pile of t-shirts that I decluttered a couple of weeks ago).

0061 Enjoy your break in Florence, how did your parkrun go? Hope it wasn't too hot.
WtnMel Sorry to hear about your sore feet, you're probably correct in thinking your right foot is suffering due to favouring it, it's easy to do without even realising you are doing it. Good idea to give walking a miss at the moment to give them both a chance to recover. Pity about the golf though. At least you managed to use that spare time to good effect. Always a satisfying feeling to do a bit of de-cluttering.
HS Are your new sunglasses prescription ones? I have some wrap around ones that aren't prescription which I use for running, plus a pair that are prescription ones but not wrap around, so they are not as secure for running purposes. I desperately need to book a check up with the optician as my eyes seem to be getting worse so I might see about some new prescription sunglasses that I can wear when running. Having had a bit of a disastrous experience with contact lenses last year I need to find something I can wear when running as I'm really struggling these days with both uneven pavements and trail. Did you do parkrun today?
Steve decided to try a short walk/jog earlier this week to see what his knee was like (can't remember if I told you that he's been diagnosed with arthritis. The consultant has suggested cortisone injections but he's holding off for the moment to see if he can manage without). I went with him and considering he hasn't done any running for four months he managed quite well and the knee was no worse than usual. So last night he had a go at the monthly DK mile race. He had to walk at times but got it done, so was encouraged by that. I was disappointed with my 9.30, every time I do this race I get slower, more work needed obviously.

Aquarius - this morning I phoned the local physio clinic I use. They are very popular and the earliest I could get an appointment was on Tue 13th. After hearing details of my foot issues, the clinic advised I see a podiatrist rather than a physio. My foot may have righted itself by then .. will just have to wait and see. Like you, I am overdue to see an optician. I may have mentioned that the local one, having moved to bigger premises, are now much more expensive than in the past (presumably to recoup their costs). I'll go to Specsavers in town instead and save my money. I doubt I'm the only one who has been scared off buying local in their case. Anyway, hope you can get what you want when you visit yours. I don't think you did mention Steve's arthritis diagnosis but well done to him for his mile race.

Update on the shirts - three were recent(ish) purchases and 'posh' ones and having seen them, Margaret suggested I'd been a bit too ruthless and should retrieve them as if I can lose a few more lbs, they may fit well enough to keep.

With the foot sore, I'm not doing anything today and am putting my feet up and taking ibuprofen.

WtnMel, sorry that you had to cancel yesterday's golf match with Alan, as your right foot is now a bit sore.

With reference to recluttering t-shirts, Sarah F is going to take mine to help in a quilt that she is making.

Aquarius, no the sunglasses aren't prescription, as I only want them for training runs, and probably not races or interval and hill sessions.

I did the Brockenhurst parkrun this morning with quite a few of our club runners. I ran 29.32 and was 82nd out of 131,and 1st AG 75-80 out of two. I attach a screenshot of us after the run, I'm in the green t-shirt.

I'm sorry to hear about Steve's arthritis in his knee. I think that it is a good idea to hold off the injections for a while, to see how it goes.

Well done for your 9.30 mile. Mine in the parkrun were 9.19, 9.19,9.26 and 8.26 for the last 0.1.

I've attached a screenshot of us after the run, I'm wearing the green t-shirt.

Aquarius I can't believe you and I keep alternating at the dk mile. The chap who came 1st is the partner of my youngest daughter. It looked like a nice evening- don't beat yourself up about the time- you got it done 👍

Thanks for asking about the parkrun. Just a small one (c80 runner). It was very hot but I managed to finish 1st and broke the v60 course record.
So sorry about your foot Wtnmel. I also have a cupboard full of work shirts and ties. Personally I can't bring myself to bin them. Some are really good quality. I've even relegated one or two to work shirts. I'm the smartest workman in the neighbourhood.

Good parkrun for you too hillstrider

0061, Well done for finishing 1st in your parkrun, and breaking the course v60 record.

I've got two business suits in the wardrobe which I haven't worn since I took voluntary redundancy 20 years ago. I doubt whether they would fit me now!

I ran a solo 6.37 miles in the forest this morning, wearing my new "Land Rover" sun glasses 🕶
