Hillstrider - well done re the farmer's walk and the 7ml run with the Monday group. Glad to hear the forest trails are slowly drying out. Hope for your sakes, the rain stays away on Wednesday.
Margaret and I have been to Croome (NT) this morning and we had a slow 2ml walk around the grounds. We were very jammy with the weather yet again - one very quick shower of light rain that lasted no more than a few minutes, but dry the rest of the time. It only started raining heavily when we were in the car on the way home.
Very fluid plans at the moment! We're heading into Cheltenham tomorrow morning as we have some (sshhhh - xmas) vouchers to spend and I also need to go to the bank. We're both having our haircut tomorrow afternoon but assuming it's dry, I'll have a go at the shed in the morning. I may have to finish the shed off on Thu morning (depends how long it takes) but I have pencilled in going to the driving range before lunch as we have the u3a science & technology meeting in the afternoon. It will make much more sense to practise the day before the golf match on Friday.

WtnMel, thanks. The rain held off this morning, so we did the scheduled session, see below.
That was good that the rain held off for most of the morning, during your slow 2 mile walk with Margaret in Croome (NT)
It sounds like a busy day today for you and Margaret, spending Xmas vouchers, going to the Bank, and having haircuts.
Thursday will also be busy with the driving range in the morning, and the u3a science and technical meeting in the afternoon. Good luck for Fridays golf match.
This morning was 5 x 800 metres with 90 seconds recoveries on the track in the forest, with the Wednesday Group.

Hillstrider - well, some of the xmas vouchers have been spent. But not all of them. So another trip to town beckons. Glad to hear your interval session with the Wed group went okay.
I've done half the shed but will need to head to my local Wickes for another load of creocote tomorrow morning. I can't remember why it changed from creosote, but there we go. It has been a few years since the shed was done and I couldn't quite believe how much was being soaked up by the wood (which was behaving more like a sponge!). Anyway, if I get to and from Wickes early enough, I should still have time to get to the driving range before lunch and I should be able to finish off the shed on Saturday.
In other news, the husband of a lady I know through u3a country dancing was interested in playing golf sometime. He also goes to the science & technology group so I should be meeting him there tomorrow. All being well, the other two S&T guys I played golf with last year will also be at the meeting. I hope I can catch up with them and maybe introduce them to this new guy as a possible additional/alternate partner for the occasional rounds of golf (a case of perm any 2,3 or 4 from the four of us, depending on who is available).

WtnMel, it sounds like a tough job creosoting your shed. I hope that you were able to get some more this morning, and got home in time so that you were able to get to the driving range before lunch?
I hope that you will be able to recruit that member of the Science and Technology group to your golfing circle at today's meeting.
This morning was a recovery pace 7k on roads. It was very humid, so quite uncomfortable.

Hillstrider - the creosoting is a bit like painting, boring but necessary, and you just have to get stuck in and get it done. I've just got back from the driving range - am happy to say I was hitting the ball better (and straighter) today. So fingers crossed for tomorrow's match with Alan. I don't know if the two guys (Brian & Dave) who 'adopted' me last year to play golf with them want anyone else involved. I'll speak to Chris first and see if we can arrange to play sometime. Then mention to Brian & Dave that I've met another golfer and see what they say. Well done re this morning's recovery run - I have to agree about the humidity, as having just been to the driving range, and even with being in the shade, the back of my t-shirt is damp.
The u3a science and technology meeting this afternoon is a talk from someone who used to work at Jodrell Bank. We're told as well as the astronomy we're all familiar with, he'll be telling us about secret projects (now in the public domain) that he used to be involved with.

WtnMel, good to hear that you are hitting the ball better, after a visit to the driving range. Hope that you play better tomorrow.
This afternoons u3a science and technology meeting should be interesting.
We've had a power cut, right in the middle of the washing cycle. Thankfully it wasn't earlier when the oven was on. I hope that the power soon comes back on again 🙏

It wasn't a power cut, one of the levers on the fuse box "had tripped!"

Afternoon all, finally getting caught up with things now we're back home.
I see WtnMel has been busy as usual, creosoting the shed, U3A, golf and best of all spending Xmas vouchers. Keeping my fingers crossed for your golf game today.
HS Lucky that your power cut turned out to be a circuit tripping, we've had a couple of short power cuts lately, one just before we went away and one during our trip. I think it must be a couple of years ago now when we had one that lasted for weeks and an emergency generator had to be put on the estate. I hope that doesn't happen again! 0061 is it Grandad 0061 yet? My trail race on Wednesday evening was even worse than I had expected. I probably should have given it a miss, partly because my legs were rather wobbly but mainly because of the heat. As I've mentioned before I just can't run when it's hot, it makes me feel awful. There were a few sections with steep steps that I had to walk, I also had to walk a bit in the last two miles. I was very hot and thirsty at the end, and a bit unsteady, so was devastated to find there was no water provided. Luckily I had water in the car which was parked nearby. Our son finished 7th, I was 93rd out of 99, but - I got a bottle of ginger wine as a spot prize!

Disappointing parkrun today, just too humid and sticky. Trying to find a positive - I had the 7th best age grade and finished 61st out of 80. I had to walk the last hill (as did everyone around me). I'm hoping for a cooler run on Monday morning when I'll do my long(ish) run. Then off to the chiropractor to see if he can do anything with my shoulder, which doesn't seem to be improving despite the exercises.

Aquarius, I can't remember the last time that I had to check the fuzes. Much simpler than the old days when we had to replace the fuze wire, ensuring it was the correct gauge.
Sorry to hear that Wednesday's trail run didn't go very well. It's not surprising considering the temperature. That was unusual, water not being available. It was lucky that you had water in your nearby car.
Well done for your son finishing in 7th, and you in 93rd. A nice surprise getting a bottle of ginger wine as a spot prize.
Sorry to hear that you were disappointed with this mornings parkrun, but well done for AG and 61st from 80.
Best of luck with Mondays long run, and your visit to the chiropractor. I hope that the session will prove productive.
I was reasonably pleased with my 29.34 at this mornings Bartley Park parkrun. I was 77th out of 112, and 1st AG MV75-80. 14th Age Grade of 112, and WAVA 67.93%.
