It's easily a grab and I'm pretty sure they intended holding and touching to be included in that. Also the law is "including and not limited to" he can be and was found guilty under the law, even if you don't agree it fit grab.

It's silly to even try and justify it. Why should a player have to accept another player touching their genitals?

He deserves it just for bringing the game into disrepute, never mind the actual offence.

Really? Sounds like some of you never even played, or are choosing to forget. And such high-handed terminology. "Bringing the game into disrepute" "sexual assault" etc etc. Who do you think you are?

Do you not think that if it truly was a 'sexual assault' he wouldn’t be getting investigated for that. Bloody armchair analysts and keyboard warriors the lot of you. I thought this thread was supposed to be about rugby, not hand wringing. You all seem to prefer tabloid style gossip and fantasy scenarios.

I think I’m out.

Bye AC. You might think all the coverage on the front pages and TV over the last week has been good for the game, but I disagree and think his actions have harmed the game's image, especially in the eyes of the casual follower or those who never watch rugby.

Anyone who'd ever played the game would know that you don't do that type of thing out in the open and directly in front of the ref - even 4th XV prop knows that, and they're not known for being particularly bright - never mind when you know there are cameras everywhere recording it for TV.

Also, it's not about what 'we used to do' as very mediocre amateurs it's about the actions of someone representing their country and the example that sets to that who follow.

Imagine the next week your child comes home from their junior match and had had their balls twisted and pulled and is in your kitchen crying? Wendy would you say to them? Man up it's ok for Joe marler to do our so what are your whinging about?'

A defence that seems to say it happened in the 70s and 80s so it's OK to happen now is particularly weak.
