So, verdict on the weekend's matches? England eventually came to the party, but you can't take 40 minutes to warm up against the ABs. McCaw was quite effectively neutered though, and I saw some promising signs from the youngsters. Yet again though, Tindall. Why? I think next weekend's match against the Criminals should be fun.
Wales should have a) kept the roof shut on the stadium a week before, and b) studied Australia a little more before the match. A shame, they seemed well-set. Australia seemed to want to lose it, but managed not to.
Ireland - well. A quiet stadium didn't suit them well, and back to the old Sexton v ROG debate.

Overall, not quite so much of a gulf in class as we were led to expect. And not such negative matches as were trailed either. Early days, but doesn't bode too badly for RWC...

England were close enough to win, but a good job that we didn't as the expectation level going forward would have been higher, and the press would have had us nailed on as RWC favourites for next year. From what I saw good job done

I was a bit dissappointed the ireland couldn't get past a hungover SA.
Wales/Aus couldn't understand it Wales smashed the Aus pack then the Aus backs tore through them in attack.
England/NZ Only saw highlights on the beeb, which I suspect might flatter England but yes encouraging performance against a full power AB's as said above though We seemed to stand around for 40 minutes. Still scratching my head as to why Cueto is in ahead of Bannahan or Sackey While Ashton only grows in my estimation, unlike Hartley who shrinks.

Only saw Eng v AB's, and was quite impressed. But for a couple of last ditch defensive efforts by the AB's we could have won it. I was particularly impressed by the forwards who seemed to be getting a lot of quick ball. Ashton was great. Tindall wasn't. Surely we must have a big ball playing centre that we can convert from RL? Won't get carried away though as it was on home soil, and the RWC will be a different matter.

What a performance. Awesome across all positions. Australia were made to look ordinary.
