Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Quite so. I used to get JPR mixed up with J. J. Williams. iirc, JPR at full back often linked up with his wingers when attacking.

Tougher, perhaps slightly less mercurial than JJ. Absolute lynch pin of the hugely successful 70s Wales squad. Seems to have been hugely respected, as you might expect. Didn't know he was a fully qualified doctor and worked for 25 plus years in medicine. Was never a rugby pundit. Can hardly imagine that nowadays. :-) G

Saw him play twice when I was a child both times at The Reddings. Once for Bridgend and once for the International Rugby Writers 15 at the Sam Doble Memorial Match.

Jamie Roberts, played for Wales and the Lions between 2008 and 2017, finished his medical training somewhere in the middle of that period iirc.

Didn't know that Raemondo, interesting. I guess some of them still want to have careers post rugby / professional sport. Laura Muir had to fit 7 years of vet training in there somewhere, I remember one year she missed a couple of champs doing her exams. :-) G

JPR vs England. 11 games, 11 wins.

I hated him....I respected him....He looked other-worldly, even in that era.

Wonder where he was in the England-Wales game during Grand Slam game of 1980?

A great loss he was a great player and I saw him play twice as my Dad loved him and that era of rugby and took me to games a few times;-)
