They were probably the biggest supplier in rugby league for a while. My team (Widnes) won the World Club Challenge with Martin Offiah, Jonathan Davies etc. in 1989 wearing Umbro. Wigan of the Ellery Hanley, Andy Gregory, Shaun Edwards, Joe Lydon 1980s era wore Umbro too. Seem to remember the Great Britain & Australia kits of the late 80s/early 90s were as well.

I am sceptical about Umbro as a kit supplier, but they have made some cracking kits in other sports so no reason they can't do well here. The issue isn't really design, it's not hard to make an all white jersey, but the challenge will be to get the technical aspects right

When Nike took over a few years ago, or maybe when they made some changes to their design, players had ripped shirts all over the pitch. That came as the cost to having a lighter jersey

Might not matter how flimsy they are when rugby is a non contact socially distanced game for the next 3 years....

...it's going to prove a hell of a job for a forward to pass more than two metres !

I did see as well that Tiggers are starting to move some people on in time for Borthers to take over. Couple of guys going to Ealing.

Yeah, we seem to be going for wholesale change. And I'm not sure it's all good (although we definitely needed something!)

With two top international wings in May and Holmes already going, I'm surprised about Thompstone. I'm hoping they've got some damn good academy players as that is the bulk of our point-scorers leaving!

The only other major losses I can see are Sam Harrisson & Guy Thompson, and maybe Kalamafoni. I doubt we'll notice the departure of our defence coach though.

I see they are also trying the tactic of promoting Jordan Murphy to an even higher level of incompetence :-(

It's worrying isn't it that Murphy can't coach and gets a more elevated position.

But you guys must be optimistic at the prospect of Borthwick appearing.

Rugby seems to be similar to football in that the best coaches seem to be those who were just good players. Murphy was a great player at his best.
